Fans! Fams! Haters! Naysayers! Positivity! Negativity! Don't hang up...TALK ABOUT IT!!! We've had a plague of threads recently about positivity and negativity on the .org, discussions about "haters" and fans and "fams", and about what constitutes a healthy fan and when does being a fan or a critic go too far and why can't we all just get along and OMG WHAT ABOUT PRINCE'S FEELINGS??? and and and and....
WE DON'T NEED A KAJILLION DIFFERENT THREADS TO TALK ABOUT THIS TOPIC, so I'm starting this sticky thread where we all can hash it out to our hearts' content. This thread is about positivity vs. negativity on the .org. It's about how we define ourselves as fans and how we balance devotion and criticism. It's about when and if we go too far, and why. Since we're on this ex-lover analogy...let me give a go... He's like that ex-lover who's supposedly out grown you and gone on with his life. For all intents and purposes, he's doing well for himself and appears better off without you. Meanwhile, you know that damn near every year, for the last 10-20 years, like clockwork. When this motherfucker that still has the nerve to look so damn good and can sound so sweet when he wants to, has wanted something...it's been your dumbass that gave it to him! He went from creatively seducing you to get what he wanted, musically wining you and dining you to get it, making promises to get it, lying to get it, threats, accusations and lawsuits to get it, manipulations to get it, hell everything...to the point now he doesn't even have to bother trying anymore. My bad, Anxiety. I ask the question again. Is this forum where all the "negativity" is buried? I sort of agree with SupaFunky's initial comment about this sticky belonging in M&M, but I'm not a moderator. At least in M&M it would have greater visibility. I admit I could be wrong, but isn't the Prince.org site discussion forum more for technical discussion than for topics that just mention Prince.org or the internet?  | |

well, it's about discussing the site. and this is a thread that is meant to encapsulate all the threads regarding the attitudes of people posts on this site. prince isn't directly involved in what we're discussing here, even though we are discussing here is the state of our discussions about prince.
and i am not a believer that if you post something in one forum or another it'll be more "popular". i've been a mod here for five years and i know if someone wants to find something, it doesn't matter where on this site the thread is, they will find it and post on it.  | |

I believe people keep starting these threads bemoaning "all the negativity" because they believe Prince or his people are reading the Org, and they're sort of trying to say, "See, I'm not like these people," for some reason thinking that will ingratiate them to Prince.
