can there be a basic travia test to only allow prince fans on the site? there are several on music nonprince that clearly state they don't care for prince but come here anyway.

well, it's an online fan community, but the word "fan" only makes up one of the three words of that phrase.

i think it's fine if friends, family, or loved ones of regular orgers (who ARE fans) catch on to the org and use it for the social funsies that we all have come to associate with this site. and if other people find and enjoy the org who don't happen to be big prince fans, then as long as they don't give the fans any hassle, then what's the problem?

personally, i don't think i would go to a forum of a pop star i'm not interested in just because i heard the boards were fun, but hey - i'm not here to judge. people do crazier things when they're bored...

Because, I've never truly figured out what makes an "anti-Prince" persona come to a site that is pretty much black and white saying that we are an "independent and unofficial Prince fan community site"! Yet... they hate Prince.

I think it's the whole "better than thou" mentality, or they're just bored. I agree Anx, I'd never sign on to a site of an artist I could care less about, regardless of the exciting message boards.

Well... it does seem pretty weird that non-Prince fans frequent the org but I've been to a forum for an artist whose music I love and it's so slow in there that it's boring and I doubt I would never post.

It's funny to me how so many people on this site never discuss Prince! Go to the Music: Non Prince Forum and you will see tons of people who never post in the Prince:Music and More forum.They must have stumbled across this site by accident,saw that other artists are being discussed here,and decided to stick around,lol.

Well I was a huge Prince fan for many years. I have seen him live in concert 50 times and have a huge Prince collection. But when I came to the org some years ago I wasn't really a fan anymore. But my bf brought me here who is still a fan and was asked by Ben to contribute to the org. I am not really familiar with Prince's current music anymore (I haven't listened to any of his recent albums more than maybe 2 times) and prefer to listen to other artists. But for some nostalgic reasons it's cool to be updated at least a bit with what's going on with him, who he is currently sueing etc.. I guess I would easily pass a trivia test although I haven't listened to Prince's music on a regular basis in ages just with all I know from back in the day . I have met some wonderful friends here on this forum and that's the reason I am here, for the people. So why need I post in Music&More? And why need I be a Prince fan to post in Music:non Prince, P&R or GD?

This is a great thread. I'm going to keep it real here, I am truly, truly baffled that people can come to a site for someone and NOT talk about them. I personally think that's stupid. SoulAlive brought up a great point in using Music: Non-Prince as an example but the same is true for General Discussion and P&R. I can understand if you were a Prince fan and just decided that other areas are better suited for you but to NEVER go in P:M&M. Please. Maybe some of them are cowards cause they are scared of "crazy" fans. I'm here cause I'm a Prince fan first and foremost. If I meet people and become friends with them, then that's cool but that not my reason for coming to the org. Everyone is different but that's my take on this.

I just want to say this here. I love coming to a Prince fansite to talk about Prince. Not to talk about Madonna. Not to talk about Michael Jackson. Not to talk about Janet Jackson or anybody else. I love talking about Prince. With what I said, I like talking about all of the people I mentioned but Prince is prority number 1. PERIOD. I just wanted to share these thoughts here.

Come for the Prince....stay for the fun.

I agree with Anx that as long as those that are not Prince fans don't harass those that are, anyone is welcomed.

People end up here for a variety of reasons and at various points on their "Prince Journey". Many are still fans, but no longer feel the need to discuss every little thing Prince and/or they are more broad musically and love to discuss music with other like minded individuals.

Some don't care for Prince one way or another but love the fun at this site.

That's why we have separate forums.

I came for the Prince, I stayed for the community!

I still read Music and more hoping for some new news, I just don't post there much anymore. After you've chimed in on Come vs The Gold Experience for the ten thousandth time, it loses it's luster.

i think a lot of the people talking the loudest variety of smack about prince on this site are former uber-fams who got too many purple beatdowns over the years, so they figure since sour grapes are purple too, this is just as good a place as any to vent their spleen. we totally need a Battered Prince Fam Syndrome forum on the org, it would make the world a better place.
