I wrote this on PFU this morning and I wanted to share this with y'all.

Prince,
I have been a fan of yours since I was 5 years old. Your music has truly been the soundtrack of my life and it continues to be. I've been blessed to see you 9 times in the last 6 years and each show was phenomenal. I'm am writing this today to tell you that as much as I love you and your music, what you and your team are doing is downright wrong. I understand that you want control of certain things pertaining to your image but in doing that, you must stop biting that hand that has fed you for almost 30 years. You have fans that want to support you in all that you do but how can they do this if you keep slapping us in the face?

In 1990, you sang a song about "Theives in the Temple" but I firmly believe that you have theives in your temple. You have a truly wicked team that seems to be working against you and not for you and if you don't get that team in check, everything you've been working for will be destroyed and I don't want to see this happen. You are the best entertainer on the planet right now and you should not be allowing this to happen. We need to hear from you and hear your side of the issue. You typically respond in a song but this is the one time that you need to TALK and NOT SING. Your fans deserve this. I don't want to see you continue to make silly and wrong decisions.

In closing, I want to say that it should not be hard to be a fan of anyone but somehow or another you make this impossible feat possible. Reexamine everything in your life and career. Take stock of what you have and be grateful. At the rate you are going, you are about to lose a lot. I will still be here as a fan but a whole lot of other people won't. Please do the right thing and drop your threats and lawsuits ASAP. Thank you

Agreed. I love the guys music but this is the final straw. I wont be buying his stuff anymore, but I'll be ripping friends CD's. If this site needs any financial help in fighting this cause, I'll be there to help.

We've all suspected Prince was an asshole - he's just confirmed it.

I refuse to have a knee-jerk reaction to all this, and have a feeling that once the smoke clears, and Prince's motives and methods of execution become better understood, that Prince will be sitting in a realm far beyond all other artists (past and present) and businessmen.

The fruits of his current labor will probably prove beneficial to many, in the future, who will draw from the precedence he will have set. But for now, don't count on Prince tipping his hand, and these threats of boycott and other "actions" are falling on deaf ears. In the meantime, save your energy for dancing to the beat of your own drummer. (All in my own humble opinion, of course).

I read early in the thread that Ben should rename this site. I don't know if it's been commented on after this but I think that would be a HUGE mistake. That's everything Prince would want us to do. This site needs to remain prince.org in spite of P so that he is reminded that he has a legacy and that he has fans who want to and will talk about him whether he wants it or not. Just my .

I have just logged on to see the news and whilst I don't have time to read the entire thread of people's comments, I just wanted to take the time to express my admiration for Ben and the other site owners. It takes a lot of courage and tenacity to stand up for your rights again and again.

I have been a Prince fan for nearly fifteen years. Most Prince fans are strong proponents of artist's rights but this is simply restricting freedom of speech and freedom of discussion.

I sincerely hope that Prince's people are reading these comments and that they tell him what his fans think of his actions. He is in danger of alienating the very people who put him where he is. It doesn't matter how great the artist is. If your audience has turned away you are playing for no one.

He’s made his dollars and realised he don’t need or want us anymore.

He doesn’t care if we buy his records or not and he doesn’t care if we agree with him or not.

He might change his mind next week and hint at a tour or sumink...
