If people keep doing that the items will end up in a glassed display case or behind a barrier which would be a shame...

On Day 1 of Paisley Park tours some guy snuck a photo of himself proudly sitting in Studio A's control room - then posted the photo online.

Subsequent to that - there were reviews from people (who toured Paisley) saying the Studio control rooms had been closed and visitors weren't being allowed to go inside the control rooms.

Wouldn't be surprised, at all, to find out someone messed with stuff or tried to take something from the recording equipment.

(People always gotta screw things up for others.)

You'd think they'd have those rooms locked during tour hours. Sounds like they need to tighten up their security.

Spread the word because the impression out there is these are on display just like any other artifact. I never believed that but it's good to get confirmation.
I did search on news for PP opening last night and came across one that looked like a newsroom discussion where they reported people on the tour held his ashes! We know that isn't true but that was reported. Wish I could say which news outlet it was. It was late and I looked at so many. Not a good thing to be put out there.

It is just the media making up shit. The Star Tribune sent some asshat to review the tour he gave it a bad review and now I do not even see the idiotic article anymore. Seals it for me that the press is out to rip anything Prince related to shreads for no reason to then to get clicks.

He was so right to protect his privacy and constanly give the press the finger.

Nothing can be done when anything can be reported on the internet. I don't remember the Star Tribune giving the tour a bad review though.

I don't disagree. Hard to imagine the clown couple behaving that way and snapping that photo if Prince was alive and in the building, then posting their childish brag for all to see. But you forgot one more person - the official PP tour photographer who took that shot.
[Edited 10/12/16 18:45pm]

Absolutely, the photographer should have told the guy to take his foot off the piano keys and not touch the guitar. I think eventually these items are going to be behind glass or roped off, where you just get to stand next it for a pic. PP has just opened so they're being generous and they know people are still mourning. I can't imagine this would take place had Prince been standing there. Why disrespect ANYYONES things like that, nevermind a person who would never have allowed it had he been alive.

fight I wish there was a way to screen people to only allow grieving fans inside Paisley Park right now.
I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

I just came back from the 4 hour long Tribute concert and Paisley Park.

If I don't get to write my reviews tonight, I will in the morning.

Don't know what happened to the concert thread....but in the words of Stevie Wonder tonight who was very emotional, "I hope the spirit of Prince stays with me for the remainder of my life" He truly misses Prince.

Very true....the song called "Soul Patch" is very good, and according to the tour guides will not be released.

The Tour started out with having to purchase a thumb drive. It is to the right when you first arrive. If you want 2 photos behind the purple piano, you need to buy 2 thumb drives. They also check in your phone with this lock bag that you carry around throughout the tour.

There were people that flew in from around the world, Japan, Ireland, Holland... he really has amazing fans.

Straight ahead you will see Prince's gorgeous eyes... a mural ...so be sure to look up. As you stand in the hall to the entrance, there are the stairs to the right that lead to his private quarters and dress makers that designed all of his customs. You will also note a crystal light, and doves, but they are in better view when you walk to the atrium. The stairs are blocked with a gate and the hall way displays numberous record awards. Other hallways throughout PP, have more displays of record sales and awards such as Grammy awards (6), Moon Men (2) American Music Awards, etc.

As you walk into the Atrium, Prince's PP replica is directly in the center of the room, with one sofa, and the bird cage displayed above with Devine and Majesty. The Doves. The guide did say they started to talk as people started to come in and Prince's music was played.

Prince's ashes are inside the PP replica in a purple glass box approximately 4 inches by 2 1/2 inches. Very small. You can not imagine all of Prince being in there. The replica is encased in glass so you can not touch it just view it from one side. The guide does tell you that he is there and gives you time to pay your respects. There were many tears at this point. It was well done, and it is exactly where Prince should be where he found peace and creativity.

I will make this brief, because I have to catch a plane, but after the atrium, you enter different rooms to the side such as the kitchen which is on display in the atrium. Note the type of books Prince read, which are also on display. There is a Panasonic TV in the kitchen, a box of pencils, and other items in there left the way they were before he died. It is locked so you only view through glass. His office is very cool. It contains a cat carrier.

The other rooms contained his outfits and they would either have video or photos to show you the outfits you were viewing. He was so small, and take note of the size of his guitars. They look like they were custom to his size. They are smaller than you see in photos.

We are told Prince had over 6,000 shoes and outfits that have yet to go on display. He also had a large car collection which they are displaying in the future.

There is one room off the side of the Atrium that says "coming in 2017" . I suggested to the guide that they have a Gallery or Photography room since Photography was a hobby of Princes. I asked them to display the photos he took so fans can see how he viewed things through the lens. She thought that was a great idea and will suggest it. There is also his office which displays what appears to be his neices and nephews.

As noted by other fans, there is the Purple Room which holds the Purple Rain script, one of the 2 motorcycles, a purple original smaller piano which is scuffed from him dancing on top, and one of his purple jackets.

Another room has other outifts on display, with video footage.

VIP which is what I had, showed several studios which are encased in glass, the editing room was touching because this is the room where Prince edited concert footage. They show you one of the videos he edited which contains footage from Musicology. There are some books and CDs, in there so take note on what he read. He was a very curious person about the world. One song said..."I hate to be alone", "you always said we made a cute couple". In the edit room is also a secret room the staff discovered.

In the audio studio where many other artists performed, they played 2 unreleased tracks - everyone liked the jazz performance audio of "Soul Patch". It was one of the final songs Prince worked on in March of 2016.

Toward the end of the tour, you walk into the concert stage room which is very large and displays many of his outfits and concert footage. It is emotional but you can dance if you feel like it.

We also stopped in the NPG room which was like a lounge where fans gathered and Prince would invite them over for an after party - he called it a pajama party. Sometimes they would all go to the movies afterwards... there was a James Bond movie he invited his fans to go see.

Sometimes Prince would also visit clubs around town until 4 in the morning just to jam, and cops would show up and tell Prince he had to shut it down, but allowed him leeway because of who he was. MN loved Prince so he got away with a lot of things. smile

One of the rooms - I think its the Galaxy room was once a basket ball court room... Judith Hill's photo is on display in the corner. That girl can sing.

There are other smaller areas - there is so much to see. In the studio is where VIP gets a chance to have their photos taken. There is also Prince's Ping Pong table.

When you got to the end after NPG where they allowed people to sit and reminence. You walked into a small area where Prince's Superbowl video was being displayed. As fans watched, many people started crying, eyes were watery because it allowed fans to reflect on the incredible loss after touring Paisley Park.

You then walked into the merchandise area, and area where you can sit down and eat the vegetarian samples that Prince's Chef made for Prince. I had the sample and the Chocholate mouse that the chef would save for Prince in the refrigerator. It was very, very good. Try it.

After that, took some photos outside - the bus runs about every 20 minutes and you catch it right next to the Chanhassen Dinner theater where Prince often popped up to perform. I was told by one of the staff there. My tour started at 11:50AM and I left there at 2:30PM.

So please reserve your tickets and enjoy Paisley Park. It was well worth it and you will walk away sad but happy you had an opportunity to pay your respects and view this man's sanctuary and incredible talent that we will not see again in our lifetime.

We are 20 Norwegians in Minneapolis, who has bought too many VIP-tickets for the Paisley Park-exhibition today (Oct. 14.). A whole big mess when we first had tickets for Oct. 12th and 13th who suddenly didn't work, and then panic-buying when they made the new round of sales..

If anyone are interested, please tell..

Sheesh....getting weary of this type of statement. And what exactly would be the litmus test for that? I think ALL fans are grieving...in whatever manner they grieve.

Do I agree with the conduct this person displayed pertaining to Prince's personal property? Emphatically NO! I would never display such blatant disregard as I, personally, would feel honored and humbled to be among his personal belongings. As much as I'd want to in this circumstance, I cannot dictate another's actions; however, those in charge of this tour experience can and should.

Hello,

I flew to Minneapolis for a VIP Tour on Oct 8th, which also happened to be my B-day! smile. I'm from AZ and I've been a Prince supporter since i was a young kid. Purple Rain was a life changing moment. Prince let me know who I was and what I wanted to be - A musician/producer.

Here's a few thoughts..

I was very anixious on the bus ride to the studio, but all of that went away once i stepped inside. Paisley Park has a nice welcoming vibe. The urn in the atruim was surprising. The tour guide told us to take a moment. I took off my hat, prayed, and said Thank you. We proceeded to checkout the various rooms with clothes and instruments from different eras. Sign O the Times was my favorite. Next was his office.. His office is very simple and his desk had a very small workspace with no computer. A medium size conference table, a few family pics, etc. ..however, his office was wired for sound, though.

The Video editing room:

This was cool, saw a short behind the scenes video from the Musicology tour. The guy in the video editing room had just started at paisley park, as did most of the tour guides it seems.. What happened to the original video editor?

Studio B:

This was a real cool studio, I played some ping-pong and took a few pics by the Piano and blue cloud guitar. I will note that this was a schecter built cloud guitar. You can tell by the way the head slants back, the Duncan pick ups, and the biggest giveaway - The shorter horn. IMHO - this was not a guitar prince played, or used in the studio, but who knows, right? As a matter fact all of the clouds I saw were Schecter builds with the exception of the peach cloud guitar in the Sign O the Times room --That's a real Cloud! If you go, pay attention to that one, and then look at the others. I was very dissapointed we didnt get a closer view of the console room for studio B. As stated, one pic per flash drive. luckily, i had two flash drives on me.

Studio A (Holy Grail):

This was Prince's creative workspace. The room is awesome! I was so excited it was hard to pay attention to the new music they were playing on the speakers (via an iPhone, or iTouch). I was checking out the studio and the gear! I was thrown back by the ESP Jazz bass in the bass room as I always saw Prince play Fender Jazz basses, or Larry's Moon bass. This was also a Mic'd bass set up, Prince rarely Mics bass cabs for recording, instead going direct to the console via Avalon DI. Again, maybe things changed, or maybe he was recording different players at the time. Again, I was dissapointed I was not able to see much of the console room through a second wall of sound proof glass. it's very dimm in the console room. I was excited to see his Oberheim OBX and Linn drum machine on display, very dim ,though. Take a flaslight to point it in the control room.

Purple Rain Room:

Nice tribute to Prince and Purple Rain. My focus was on the purple electric piano i've seen on many old performances and in the movie Purple Rain. I was a little dissapointed the tour guide presented the white cloud guitar as if it was the guitar from the movie. It was another schecter build -- the guitars Prince sold on his website and tours.. Prince broke the real one back in the late 80's.

Food:

Food was awesome, I tried them all..lol. The Wild Rice w/ Pumpkin sauce and Kale chips was my favorite. Shout out to the Cooks!! smile

To be in Prince's creative space was amazing. It's really hard to believe he has left this world. Although, at times, I did feel like he was watching from the top floor (weird, right?). My experience at Paisley Park was a good one.

I will definitely go back.

Hi again, peeps! I posted my concert review this morning, now here's my experience and impression of the PP tour. I won't go into detail about what I saw, because that's been pretty well established. My friend and I went on the GA tour, which I thought was very fulfilling. We started in the atrium, and I won't beat around the bush. I broke into sobs when I saw the urn. The reality hit like a ton of bricks. Other people were weeping quietly, so I didn't feel so embarrassed. I was delighted by the theme rooms and studio experience. You can still feel his energy in studio A, especially when seeing things like the handwritten notes on his music stand, and half burned candle by the piano. The new song, "Soul Patch" was particularly groovy, and I hummed the melody to myself so I wouldn't forget it.

Seeing the soundstage and NPG club was difficult, as I was there for his Record Store Day concert last year. I touched the door where I saw him peeking through, and stood in the spot where my best friend and I watched his set on the sound stage. Oh, the feels! My emotions were bursting forth at the end, after looking at the "fence" recreation in the lobby, and the Super Bowl video on the wall. Thankfully, Shelby J was there, and she offered me tissues and hugs, and held my hand during the video. What a sweetheart!!

The merch tent was a zoo. Great items for sale, like shirts from his last couple of tours, gorgeous posters, tote bags, memory books, and accessories. Unfortunately, I did not have time to stand in line for an hour, because I had a flight to catch, so I passed on buying anything. However, my friend and I did get tasting plates from the kitchen, and the food was very healthy and delicious! The curry was my favorite.

Here are some pics from the merch tent, food and menu, and a selfie with a special lady!

So, all that's for sale for the "Paisley Park Museum Experience" is leftover Prince concert merch that they couldn't unload at the time? Nothing unique or newly created for the actual experience? That's a shame, speaks to the "quick buck" nature of this affair, & something I hope that changes soon. Especially as they're not allowing photographs, which makes a well done photo guidebook of Paisley Park & its history a must.

The estate has a duty to move the back inventory, of course.

Folks attending may want it, or may want to support those efforts, that's great.

The other stuff will come too.

Perhaps additional time will bring quality merchandise options that please you and others.

It could happen, but not without bringing in money now too.

(P.S. It's not about the stuff.)

No. If you saw the Live feed, some of the items you see are from past concerts and when they are gone then they are gone (pout, pout, whine, whine). BUT there are also items under specifically PP museum and those items will be kept in supply and will become available for purchase online.

You're very welcome! I tried to take pics of whatever I was allowed, because I wanted to provide visuals for my purple peeps. I would have snapped more merch pics, but it was packed like sardines in the shopping area! I really wanted that 3rd Eye Girl t-shirt, but I couldn't risk missing my plane by waiting in line for an hour. LOL! The memories are the best souvenirs anyway. biggrin

Also, it cracked me up that they were serving pancakes! Haha!

Wanna hear me sing? biggrin www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

Glad you posted PP management response.
I noticed earlier PP management responded. It should never have happened in the first place. They should have employed competent staff. Allowing these things to happen makes me question what they are all doing behind closed doors.

What has happened is so disrespectful and those doing such things should be ashamed. I doubt they will be.
