If I remember correctly I thought council approved the plan and requested some things to be changed around, like the entrances and such. PP did that.

This is a bunch of bull. The city had to have gave the go ahead or this wouldn't have ever proceeded this far.

There is no way they would be doing all this work, selling tickets and hiring staff if they thought the opening date was in jeopardy. Since the mayor was in favor of this moving forward I put the blame on him. He must have given the Estate the impression this was good to go. When the estate first came to the mayor/city he should have put the breaks on it then. It shouldn't be happening 2 days before PP is supposed to open.

I agree so much with this!

I maybe incorrect here but I thought Londell was the lawyer for the Estate? And PP is part of the estate. I'm sure Londell was a part of the negotiations with Graceland regarding the opening of the museum. I agree, he has had his hand in a lot of issues since the get go. To me his credibility was shot a long time ago! What a mess!!!!

My understanding is he is involved in the music side of the estate. According to the Star Tribune he's only on retainer until November. This is not his only job.

Ok thanks now you've pointed it out I recall reading about this. I think the same goes for Bremer right?

Guys, please. The last thing we need are people attacking each other's positions when everyone is sensitive about this disheartening news. If you planned the trip of a lifetime somewhere, around a particular event or location and it was suddenly cancelled (with barely 2 days notice for those enroute right now) you would be chafed too. Purple Fam needs to stand together, not divided.

Follow the thread back and you'll see nothing of the sort was said. Someone is trying to have a battle of wits on their 7th post, but clearly came unarmed.

What an utter shambles. I feel for those fans who booked, it's disgraceful. I get a feeling the estate thought it was just a formality and they took a calculated risk, never imagining this would happen. But it did. Their worst case scenario came true. I Don't even know what to say. The fans deserve much better than this and so does Prince.

Exactly in no way would the Graceland people put the money up for this if they were not assured that the opening would get started.

This is people on the council sabortaging the project. Which is surprising considering what a good neighbor everyone said he was in Chanhassen. eek They want to fail because they could allow it temporaily so the three months worth of tickets holders could come out. What a bunch of asshats.

I drove by PP on my way to work this morning and the parking lot was full of vehicles so they're not stopping any of the work currently being done. I think they will hack to come to some temporary agreement. Piss off these early ticket holders and they probably won't come back.

This situation is certainly not the fault of the City Counsel. They are acting as a dligent municipal body and evaluating an important issue in what appears to be a methodical manner.

The fact that tickets were sold, and announcements made about the opening of PP as a museum before this issue was put before the City Counsel, is a shameful and gross example of mismanagement that is gravely against the interests of the estate and the legacy of Prince Rogers Nelson.

The Bremer Trust has revealed itself to be an amateurish and shamefully inept steward. Any beneficiary of PRN's estate should be in court this afternoon petitioning for the removal of the Trust.

The tens of thousands of dollars of fees that the Trust has charged to the Estate should be disgorged.

BS they're just as much to blame. No way would Graceland hire staff and start selling tickets if they knew approval was iffy at best. The city council is just throwing its weight around wanting to show who's boss. And they know they won't get the blame or have to deal with people who are out a lot of money. Shame on all of them for this clusterf**k.

Thank you. A "diligent municipal body" would have scheduled this item on their agenda in a timely manner in the first place.

This is a maneuver.
