Prince vs Bowie Hi All,
Given the recent heated debating over Prince cover versions, and a few orgnotes I got requesting links, I'd like to direct your attention to my Prince vs Bowie project. I did these last year, they're not mashups per se, as I have replayed all the instruments myself and done all my own vocals. The only sampled parts are drum loops from the Future, Cream, and Nasty Girl. Anyway, the concept was to try to meld Bowie and Prince songs. And being something of a Bowie neophyte at the time, I listened to about everything I could so that it was a level playing field (after all, I know so much about Prince, it was easy to picks tracks both obscure, and popular, that would fit together). I've tried to put references to at least 3 songs from each artist in every track. For example, the astute listener might pick out a guitar breakdown from kiss, a piano solo in the style of Mick Ronson on Aladdin Sane, or a quick reference to Tick Tick Bang. The challenge was at try to use Prince musiuc with Bowie's lyrics, or vice versa, and, as their music is very different, I thought it was going to be very hard. But as the project went on, I developed a different approach for each track, and I think it came out ok in the end. Maybe I should have posted this in the Org Artist Community, but I thought, since it directly relates to Prince, this would be an ok forum to put it in. Anyway, I've uploaded them to my myspace, they're the first 3 tracks. Have fun! www.myspace.com/adamrudegeair Take it - like Clarence said:

Cool, I am listening now..
I always thought 1999 era Prince would go very well with Low period Bowie. My name is Naz!!! and I have a windmill where my brain is supposed to be.....

I love it! Especially the third track! wow... I was wondering how you'd combine these two guys, and you did it VERY successfully! [Edited 8/5/09 6:12am] | |

Thanks for checking it out. Yes, the 3rd track is my fav too, I got to throw in 100mph, Fame, Pop Life, Ashes to Ashes, Kiss, and Nasty Girl! Now if I could just got Modern Love to mingle with Alphabet St, I'd be really happy! Take it - like Clarence said:
