I disagree. My best friend is nearly impossible to get on with. He doesn't mix well and I'm just about his only friend. He's going through a tough time right now (much of his own doing), which is bringing out his worst qualities. I'm feeling strong though, so knowing this I'm steadfastly continuing to be his friend, even though in many ways it could be seen to be to my detriment. This is my definition of being a good friend. Why make a conscious choice to stop giving love? If I can keep giving it then I will. I don't think about him in terms of 'dragging me down' (what you basically said, all in all). I just want to help him to be happy again and for us both to be better people.
If he's living in 'hell and suffering' wouldn't it better to try to share and bring him to the 'same path' I'm walking, rather than turning my back and being self-satisfied about my own little 'higher ground' I've found? Just sayin' . [Edited 8/9/09 21:03pm] | |
