Why is this forum such a wasteland?

All I read on here for months was NPGMC sucks, NPGMC rules, NPGMC this, that and the other, why can't they do this, and so forth, so Ben & Matt gave it its own forum and it DIED.

Single handedly killed 2 VERY interesting threads about the "12 questions" we were sent recently.

Do we need this forum? I thought it was a good idea, and FTR, I'm wondering whether the membership is worth it, reserving judgement until we see the rest of the tour and hear the othere CD's.

Good question.
I regularly check this forum out, but nothing much seems to be going on.
I think most ppl just go to the most popular forum and that is it.

This forum is a direct reflection of the NPGMC.

Can't illict interesting discussion about a club as uninteresting as the NPGMC.

PLEASE NOTE: What follows is my OPINION. If you don't want to know or don't care... please don't read

The merch is boring. The music is slow in coming. It is rarely updated and, when it is, what is added is either a quick blurb of cryptic Prince speak or a link to another site. The site itself is ugly. I am so tired of the same illustrations.

The only nice thing I've seen lately is the Cele pics. That is an example of the life that needs to be breathed into the club.

Oops! Did I just post all that negativity out loud? Please excuse me while I go get my + sign today...

The Captain agrees with you. The site is not a living breathing thing like the ORG. The first year offered downloads that at least came monthly. This year the only life in site was during the concert waiting for your city to be put on the pre-sale list. The CD's come in the mail so why even bother going to the site. All the communication is one sided. I'm getting what I paid for in the CD's and the tickets I bought, but the site it self is just a cheap store front with I love me notes on the inside walls. If you are going to sell stuff, then make it interesting. Change the merchandise from time to time. Add singles we haven't heard.

And the download area, SILICON. This is a song that we got the first year and it has been up for months. He could make small speaches for download each week and it would be more interesting. That's free to do. He could have added capabilites like this site has so people in the club could communicate. A club membership generally brings people with something in common together. This is more like the Columbia Music House Club. No need for a website. You just pay and wait by the mailbox. Don't expect crap. This site keeps you expecting and never delivering.

Oh well. Like so many others I will still pay for the music. I will until the day I'm gone, but I still don't like what the NPG Music Club is at this point in time. I just hope one day I can say I was there in the beginning when the website sucked.

I'd have to agree that this years version of the club is rather boring. The only time to really discuss it is when another CD is released (months between each) and if something new come up on the site (rarely).

I guess NPGMC got its wish by changing the format of the club. I'm sure their bandwith usage is almost non-existant now. Theres almost no reason to go there anymore.

As far as I can tell, people don't really get the concept of "forums" around here and just post everything in "Prince music and more" or "music:non-Prince".

Perhaps, people are opposed to the "borders" set-up by these forum classifications? wink lol

You sum it all up beautifully. I joined the NPGMC for the CDs, but it would be nice if it was updated more with RELEVANT info. A few downloads couldn't hurt, surely (how many songs in the vault? Maybe not as many decent songs as Prince would like us to believe?) Some thoughts about the Celebration from the man himself, commentaries written by the P, more input from the 'fams', reflections of Prince's past career from 'fams' or the man himself, etc. etc. etc. The list could go on. I'd like a decent survey from NPGMC for all the members to complete to enable them to work out what WE want, rather than what they think we want.

I'm not one to complain, but I'll have to agree with the majority here.

NPGMC needs to get their acts together or Prince needs to delegate someone to get the job done.

The website could be improved 150% if he just took a hint from us and delivered what we want.

Last year, I was really pleased. I did have a computer and was able to get the downloads and movie files which were a real gift, but this year it's a bit slack. If it wasn't for the Celebration in June what would be there now? Nothing!!!

I really like the questions and answers that they had going on for a while and now I don't think you can access them.

Where's the group chat discussions where you can try to talk to a real person or Prince like they had before last year.

At the Cele last year (I think, since I wasn't there), but didn't they have a group discussion about NPGMC and what/where it's going next? They didn't have one this year.

I know they can't please all the people all the time, but can you at least try for 1/4 or half?

Peace Yall
