Cleveland Setlist PRINCE -- Gund Arena 4/17/2004
8:30 p.m. to 10:40 p.m. (130 minutes) Musicology Lets Go Crazy I Would Die 4 U When Doves Cry Baby Im A Star Shhh DMSR I Feel For You Controversy (including a bit of "Housequake," Beyonce's "Crazy In Love," " and "I Like The Way You Move") God instrumental (intro) ACOUSTIC SET: Little Red Corvette Raspberry Beret After Midnight On The Couch Sometimes It Snows In April Cream I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man 7 Sign O The Times The Question Of U--The One--Fallin'--The One Lets Work U Got The Look Life O The Party Soul Man Kiss Take Me With U ENCORE The Beautiful Ones Nothing Compares 2 U Purple Rain RANDOM NOTES: Gund Arena was considered soldout by the venue as only limited-view seats were available...Even though both "DMSR" and "Controversy" were shorter than in Columbus, this show was far superior than the previous night. The audience was really pumped and so was Prince..."Cream" was a highlight again, as Prince remarked that he wrote the song while he was looking in the mirror and encouraged everyone to sing the song to themself in the mirror..."The Beautiful Ones" and "Nothing Compares 2 U" returned to set again, played as part of the encore before "Purple Rain"...The official afterparty was announced following the show for the Spy Bar. Prince was expected to attend but not perform.

I believe this the best set list , and concert that I attened by P since the mid 80's....Pardon me but as much as I love his work..I never have to see him perform Purple Rain again.IMHO....I know that this has become his signature work. "..Just close your eyes and count to 10...and when U open 'em I'll B standing naked with nuthin' but a SMILE on.."

I can't believe you could remember all those songs!!! I was there last night in the upper deck.. and I'd say there was maybe tops (500 seats not filled) It was at the very top/last couple rows.
BUT WOW The crowd was LOUD! I couldn't even hear Prince singing or playing in a bunch of songs. The Accoustic Set was the best part for me Little Red Corvette sounded just amazing! he has to put a DVD out this year of the Tour ..also Prince asked the crowd if they loved him.. the place went NUTS! It was sooooo loud.. Prince even was taken back and blushed.. then said " Oh this is going to be a good show tonight" or what about.. When the crowd was chanting " WE WANT PRINCE!! WE WANT PRINCE!!" for a Encore wow that was loud another thing that was just great was the crowd. I have been to a million shows and I have never see such a nice crowd everyone was just nice to everyone everyone was friendly & just very cool! No one pushed in lines, If someone needed help they helped them. It was just a beautiful special night! sooooo much fun [This message was edited Sun Apr 18 5:24:38 2004 by ElectricBlue]

Did Prince perform at the After Party?? Was there an After Show in Cleveland??? Although Spy Bar promoted the afterparty as an afterSHOW, Prince and The Band did not perform. There is only a 6x6-foot stage by 1-foot tall (if that) at the far end of the club near the deejay booth and there is no way Prince could perform -- unless he did a solo acoustic set. Stage is just too small. Area CDleveland bands play there once in a while. Some of The Detroit Crawl's motor babies got in for free to the afterparty Saturday night. Prince arrived at Spy Bar and entered twice and then snuck downstairs to a secluded part of the club. All of the NPG were there and some got to mix and mingle with Candy and Mr. Blackwell. During the Clevleand show, just like in past shows, only women were allowed on stage during the end of the show (Kiss/Soul Man/Life O The Party). Asked Candy why there were no men on the stage and she said she would talk to Prince and look out for some of the Detroit Crawl / Cleveland faithful who will be at Penn State University Sunday night. That's all I have right now from our motor babies. I'm promised a more detailed revue of the afterparty and what Prince did.

Unfortunately, someone pissed me off before the show and dampened the whole night for me. But Prince put on an AMAZING show. As someone suggested regarding his past shows, the acoustic set alone was worth the price of admission. And while I'm a Revolution die-hard, I have to admit (for the first time) if I die and come back as a rock star, I want the current NPG backing me. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I was at the show and I cannot put into words how great it was. To see him do "Sometimes it snows in April" live mad me cry. I have always loved that song. I loved every minute of my first Prince concert. Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

First and fore most the Cleveland show was awesome and anyone who missed it... shame on ya and ya mamma! I'm not sure why the concert startd a little late but it didn't matter by the time they rolled him out in a crate to the stage, yes that's prince in the crate with all the guards pushing it to the stage. The crowd was more than ready to get the party started and he put his foot on the petal. I won't go into the set list because with few exceptions he did the same set list as the L.A. simulcast but i will say that this may very well be the 1st time i've seen the man so relaxed and very funny. A great example of this was during Cream. The crowd is singing w/prince and when the parts for backup came, not many people sang it. Prince stops and asks" where are my backup singers?". The crowd goes crazy and then Prince says, " If ya'll don't start singin' i'll shut this set DOWN!" . It was so funny. Later in the same song he stops agin and says"you know i wrote this while i was lookin' in the mirror" The crowd broke out in haughter and with the biggest grin on his face he says. "I really did". You should try it when you go home tonight", which hed into the Chorus. It was funny as hell. Eventhough i"m a Npg member, I didn't get floor seats, mine where up but i coud see everthing and that was great cuz you saw the entire stage and if you wanted to see him up close u looked at the screen. The sound was great when they played music but sometimes you couldn't hear what he was saying.
