I will say, one concert in Auckland only at a small venue (ASB theatre), they said sales will be limited to 2 tickets per person, however I will aim to go to both shows if there are.

.

All my NZ fans, love a meet up b4 or after show, we should plan 1. Any Kiwi fans want to flop free on a blow up mattress is more that welcome at my place.

.

Really feeling sorry for Naz and Marti who are south island fans and now have to factor Air NZ for their costs. If they want I could buy a spare ticket and sell it to them if they want.

Yeah mate. Buy two, we all should to cover any of us who miss out. Any spare spares will be easy to shift.

Well lust, if I miss out, I will come to you, unless you have a backup already.

.

Same with you guys, if you miss, You and Naz or Marti can come to me.

I aim to go to both shows too, not just one.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

That's about 4,000 tickets in total for Melbourne. That should be just about enough for media and friends, b, c and d celebrities. (not to be too pessimistic or anything!)

Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

Aw man, can't believe this.

I live in Brisbane and last time round I was booked on a romantic break with my wife in Sydney when he was due to play Brisbane. I left her there and went back to Brisbane. I'm almost, almost forgiven for that (it's been three years!) and now there's more shows, but none in Brisbane.

We are away in Melbourne for Valentines...another romantic weekend away. Prince is in Melbourne on the 16th/17th...just watch out for a Brisbane show being added the weekend of the 13th/14th...I have no other information other than the fact I will be insterstate and Sod's Law dictates Prince will try and get me and my wife divorced!

I'll be trying to get tickets for each and every venue (I onlly really want to go to one show...couldn't afford the travel for any more) They are all a flight and hotel away, so the reality is it doesn't really matter where being from Brisbane, Auckland is pretty simple for me too.

Really hoping for a 2nd Auckland show to make getting tickets slightly less impossible.

Did the Dainty site originally say 2 shows for Auckland, then remove that info?

I've seen mention in the Press Release of 2 shows on each Melbourne date, but not on any other. Really hoping for a 2nd Auckland show to make getting tickets slightly less impossible.

The site states (and I think this is the original wording i.e. no changes since the announcement):

"Prince will bring his Piano & A Microphone tour to Australia and New Zealand this February for 10 exclusive and intimate shows.

"Prince will perform 4 shows at Melbourne State Theatre on February 16 and 17, 2 shows at the Sydney Opera House on February 20 and 2 shows at Sydney State Theatre on February 21. Prince will also perform for the very first time in New Zealand at Auckland’s ASB Theatre on
February 24."

So, whilst it says specifically that there are two shows on each of the nights in Australia, it also says there are 10 shows in all - which suggests (but doesn't state) that there could also be two shows on the 24th in Auckland.

It simply isn't clear ... so hopefully it will be clarified very shortly.

SPECIAL TICKETING ARRANGEMENTS

To address ticket scalping concerns, the following procedures will be put in place to ensure that Prince fans are able to purchase tickets to these performances, and NOT scalpers.

At the time of purchase, the purchaser’s name will be recorded and a corresponding receipt issued.

If I can't get tickets to Auckland, I'll bounce to Aus if someone ends up with a spare and doesn't try to to stitch me up for a 400% mark up like for the Sydney after show in 2012.

Case of pre-Prince tour mind battles today...Tour announced yesterday, shows announced this morning, tickets going on sale Tuesday and all will have been and gone over the next 2 weeks. Currently in the process of revolving excitement of the actual prospect of the tour, angst of not having solidified attendance and plans and last but certainly not least....nerves over the upcoming ticket purchasing process on Tuesday while at work. In times like this...I miss NPGMC where us fans could secure our rightful places ahead of the bandwagon masses. 2012 was nothing short of an online debacle with crashed servers during ticket purchse. These venues aren't stadium crowd capacity obviously so I remain on edge until all is sorted. This feeling I am labelling "Beautiful Strange".

Curious if the 2 ticket per person rule apply to each show...or they'll only sell 2 tickets total to one name? For example, depending on prices, I may just foolishly over extend myself on credit and try to attend all 4 Sydney shows, therefore obviously requiring 4 tickets. What's your interpretation of this rule?

My reading of this rule is that it will be 2 tickets per transaction in actual fact. They would be silly to prevent you from going to all shows if thats what you wish to do. (Your bigger battle with this will most likely being able to get tickets for all shows before they sell out).

Scalpers use special software programs that scoop up dozens if not hundreds of tickets at a time which of course they then go on to sell at inflated prices. My reading of this policy means that you will be able to purchase 2 tickets through one transaction, and then if you wish to buy additional tickets for other shows, you will need to start the process again buying upto 2 tickets at a time.

Of course the most important thing to remember is that the person who purchases the tickets online MUST BE PRESENT with ID in hand at the collection point on show day, or else you may not be issued with tickets. So you can't even purchase tickets on behalf of a friend unless you are going to be on site to pick them up for your friends on the night of the show. Hopefully all this results in genuine fans being able to get tickets for at least 1 show in each city.

The rumours coming from Melbourne have the dates as follows (these are not gospel, they are merely rumours)

February 19th & 20th - Sydney Opera House

February 21st - State Theatre Sydney

February 22nd - 27th Four shows in Melbourne (exact dates and location not disclosed)

As I say these dates are only rumour but may provide something to work off for those wanting to attend.

[Folks, please do not post rumours. If it is a 'fact' please post a link to back up your claim, thanks]

Anyone else in Welly? Don't know any othet P fans here..

I'm a Prince fan living in Wellington. Can't say I know a lot of Prince fans, besides some friends i've partially converted. I am planning to go to the Auckland concerts - if I can get the tickets.

so im sure like others people are wondering what the start times are for the concerts. doing a bit of googling, previous ones have been 8:00pm followed by a second performance at 11:00pm. You would imagine these would be the same. 8-10, 11-1? maybe a bit shorter than that.

It looks like tickets will be named and ID required for pick up, like Glastonbury, to stop touting, which I fully endorse. Makes it a lot trickier for us fans to buy 'just in case I can afford the flight tickets' if I can't resell them at face value to another fan (or vice versa when I miss out!).
Humph...

I'm not sooooo bonkers about the PP set list from Jan, but would love to hear the Parade stuff and 'How come you don't call me'. Nothing Compares.... has never disappointed live either. Oh bugger, why don't you just come to Brisbane maaaaate?
There's quite a few of us, we'll chip in and host you on the rooftop of my UQ Great Court work building at sunset....*dreamslalalalala*

You never know... When I saw Prince perform two back-to-back shows in 2014, he started the first show at 8:30 p.m. and the second show didn't end until after 3 a.m. in the morning...way past curfew...

The State Theatre in Melbourne officially seats 2079, so that makes a total of 8316 tickets for a city of 4.3 million inhabitants, not to mention people prepared to fly in from neighbouring states South Australia and Tasmania.

This is my concern. If the tickets are around the $300 mark, I'm not sure I can justify that for a guy (yes, even Prince) and just a piano.

Around $200 seems reasonable to me. For typical Australian ticket prices, anyway. I paid $260 to see Janet Jackson at the Adelaide festival theatre in 2011 - and that was with a band, dancers, lighting, etc...

I have a feeling it won't be that much like $139 or so, Prince charged Bugger all at Paisley Park and all concert goers got a free Hitnrun Phase 2 CD. I will factor in more Ca$hmonae though for buying Merch at the stall.

This will be a blast!!!!

All I can say is that I am so impressed about the way NZ fans have gathered together and are being so generous to one another. Makes me want to go to NZ. I really haven't seen this kind of generosity on any music board (at least since I've been doing it). I hope ya'll get the tix and have the Prince experience of a lifetime. wink
