AlSo the comment before about rage against the machine... Guessing you mean "what's my name" from Crystal Ball..

Not that (but I can see what you mean), might have been an Audioslave track.

Prince is definitely right about the phones. I saw Janelle Monae at Brixton where more than a few people were constantly taking vids / photos and uploading them to facebook etc.

Total vibe killer neutral

Beng blinded by the Torch-gestapo wasnt much fun either though. Someone near me must had had a phone out a lot or someone had a new toy torch.

Yeah the torch thing was even worse in Birmingham. Wouldn't be necessary if people just respected the rules of the artist / venue though.

On night bus back from both shows, amazing night. Had only seen Prince for the first time in Birmingham on the 19th, hard to choose between any of the shows, loved all three, best performer I've ever seen, and always entertained by 3rdEyeGirl who I think are fantastic.

In a taxi on the way home. Third time I've seen him this year (Koko and EB) and this was most definitely aimed at more casual fans (until the encores). More of a prince show than a 3rd eye girl show. But still incredible.

Off the top of my head he played (not in the right order):

Let's go crazy
Take me with u
Raspberry beret
Controversy
1999
Little red corvette
Kiss
Nothing compares 2 u
Purple rain
Electric intercourse
Cool

Sampler set:

When doves cry
Sign o the times
Diamonds and pearls
I wanna be your lover
Do me baby
Beautiful ones
Under the cherry moon

Encores:

Guitar
Funk n roll
Something in the water
Fix ur life up
Reworked version of The Ride called ButterFace
Pretzelbody instrumental jam
What's my name

Apologies if I missed anything.

Back in the hotel.

First show was solid and fun. Second show was identical for first hour, then Prince took it up a complete gear. Whole of The Beautiful ones, Electric Intercourse, fixurlife up, jam to The Ride, Something in the water, What's my name.

Second show was 10.30 to 12.40. He said he wanted to go on, but he liked the venue so much, he didn't want to ruin anything so he squeezed one more in and went.

Sorry, didn't do set notes as I wanted to funk it up tonight. Had a gut feel it might be a while before he is back.

He seemed quite emotional at the end. He said every London gig got better and better. He said he loved the venue and indicated he wanted to come back, but he didn't suggest when.

I prefered it to Koko, but cant put my finger on why.

Best part of the first show, followed Guitar, right? Wish it was recorded, heavier with the guitars than the album version.

Seems like people were at a different show to me. I was front row right of stage at 2nd show and thought it was the worst I've seen him.

He was so pissed off. So many technical issues and mic problems he gave up shooting evils and walked off and shouted at one of the crew. God the evils though sent chills down my spine. Quite interesting to see what a pro he is and turn his stage face on as he faces the audience.

I could tell he was agitated and just not into it. At least not till The Beautiful Ones etc. at piano.

Really disappointed. Me and friend had to leave around midnight to get home so missed the more interesting encore.

Don't know why he's dropped the 3rd Eye stuff and I'd doing hits again?

So standing out in rain and to not be let in till nearly 10 was a dampner... But sorry I thought the show was poor!

Yeah, he had a fit with one of the crew just off stage at the first Manc show. Like, literally stomping his feet and waving his arms eek You would never have guessed though if you didn't see it because, as you say, he's a complete pro and knows how to turn it on for the crowd.

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

I heard it was just the girls at LoungeLover.

Re. Roundhouse II, it was a great show.

Not as raw as the Hit & Run pt. 1 shows - which I liked for that reason alone...

but it was more like an arena show in a comparatively smaller environment: more fluid, more polished, less experimental.

Palatable nod

'dre

Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

I saw that at the Manchester arena show 1 but looked like he was pretending to me... Kind of like an in joke or something...

I'm sick of hearing about 'Jay' and his constant pretending to have inside information and his self-imposed 'king of the fans' role. A very self-satisfied man who is no more 'in the know' than any of us.

Just read the forum rules so I'll not attack you personally. My point is that there are many people on forums who are lazy, selfish and downright ungrateful 'fools'.

I am no apologist for Jay, he is sometimes over excitable, prone to going a wee bit mental at the front and occasionally screaming like an excitable One Direction fan.....but that's it, I ran out of criticisms.

'Certain people' have: not spent 12 hours queuing (24 hours for the 1st ticketless Q in Manchester in Feb), not made time to befriend security, not stood there and numbered the fans for hours on end for no pay, attempted as best he could to make sure that those waiting for 12 hours did get to the front of the barrier as opposed to 'idiots' turning up 10 minutes before the doors open and queue jumping, done his best to create a decent vibe where the queue looks after itself to let people head off for a pee and a sandwich and folk then letting them back in.....and all of it for no more preferential treatment than a spare drumstick at the end of the show.

So, the self-imposed 'king of the fans' is a pathetic jibe at someone who is actually incredibly humble. Who will make sure that a smaller fan can see when some fat lazy bloke wanders up and barges past her. A man who has never had the temerity to say he is more important than any other fan, a guy who actually created a hugely positive vibe by shaking every hand in the queue.

The keyboard warriors of this world (you know who you are) are on this and other forums desparate for 'info' - well somebody is stood in the pi**ing rain trying their level best to find out that info for the fans. NEVER known him to keep anything back - and if it's wrong it's because some ill-informed security guard misleads him.

So flame me, I couldn't give a sh*t, but the next time you want to know the low down on a gig, albeit with the occasional wrong piece of information, then get your lazy a**e down to the venue and find out. Or u could ask Jay. And he will tell you with all the honesty he can.

Well, for me it was more fun last night. KoKo was brilliant, rocky and raw. This was more polished, and the sound was very special. The best I've ever heard at a Prince gig. He made virtually no reference to sound changes, with the exception of turn up the keyboards (Cassandra) and turn up the rim shot. Both were done instantly and he seemed in the best mood of all of these shows, well the 6 I've seen anyway. I LOVED it.

Has anyone ever heard a better or clearer note, then when he hit the top note in 'A case of U'?

Unbeleievable! cool cool cool cool cool cool

He's a Prince fan. A recent Prince fan but now he's seen the light he, like any other Prince fan tries his best to see him as often as possible. That is not a crime. Trying to drum up and build a sense of community among Prince fans is also no bad thing.I saw him help at least two people(complete strangers to him) try to get tickets yesterday.

.

Having looked through his twitter feed, it doesn't look like there was too much misinformation ( hope you enjoyed the afterparty at Garage Jay!) But essentially it comes from a good place.

.

Where he lets himself down is when he says to experienced Prince fans who raised the issue of him jumping to the front of he queue of 1st giggers going for the 2nd gig, " you need to do more for your artist mate". That made me laugh out loud.

.

Anyway, regards the shows. I think the first one just shaded it for me. I'm really enjoying The Love we make.I could listen to that version of the song all day long. The Beautiful ones Do me Baby and Purple Rain in the 2nd show were 2014 highlights for me. Last night was very very special indeed for me and it looked like it was special for Prince(although i realise he is a performer).

.

Great great day yesterday.Good people in the queue, i hope Scott from Portsmouth enjoyed himself. There were two first timers on the barrier next to me and i know they enjoyed it.

That note was special.

The sound quality to the side was poor compared to the middle. unfortunately there were still technical issues which have plagued this tour.

I much prefered the Feb gigs, but second show last night felt special, but as with any gig, there is no definitive best, it depends on the circumstances that got you there.

"...not stood there and numbered the fans for hours on end for no pay..." - and then pulled his friends into a VIP entrance with the hope of skipping queuing, despite having handed numebering duties over to someone else who then had to take the flack from all the people who saw his select group find their way into a VIP entrance (Manchester Arena).

.

"...incredibly humble..." - despite being on a TV dating show and also turning around pointing at himself to the crowd during Manchester Arena gigs.

.

"...attempted as best he could to make sure that those waiting for 12 hours did get to the front of the barrier as opposed to 'idiots' turning up 10 minutes before the doors open and queue jumping..." - even though, at Manchester Arena, a group of people who knew his friends turned up 20 minuites before doors opening and were given lower numbers so they could be at the front of the queue.
