there are some video clips of the pancake breakfast show over on drfunkenberry. http://www.drfunkenberry.com/ the camera pans to the crowd and we can see paisley park is packed full of people. looks like a lot of fun, but quite the crush. LOVE his hair. he's lookin good!

After a day of recovery I can finally give my recap of the show.

I waited all day for news of the shuttle and of course there was none so my friends and I arrived at 9PM and joined the line across the street. Around 12:45 they started allowing cars into Paisley to park on site but the people in them had to wait inside their vehicles. At about 1:15 they started directing the line I was in across the street and we lined up in front of the entrance ahead of all the cars parked in the Paisley lot...I thought that was pretty cool. Door opened promptly at 2:00 am.

We entered the venue and noticed the pancakes for a dollar sign posted on the wall which immediately generated a laugh from us. I had a feeling he would do something like that so I wasn't too surprised.

We took our spots dead center from the stage and the wait begain....3am passed....4am passed and we were started to get a little irritated in addition to being about ready to pass out from how late it was. Finally a little after 4 the director/dancer of the Breakfast Can Wait video came out and said we were going to screen the video which caused a noticable groan to come up from the crowd. It wouldn't have been that bad but we had to sit through the video plus the extended director's cut followed by 4...yes 4 remixes of the song. After these were finished I could safely say that I could go without hearing Breakfast Can Wait for the forseeable future.

Finally at 4:30 am on the dot Prince and the band came out and launched into Let's Go Crazy Reloaded and it simply kicked ass. How a guy in his 50s can have that much energy at 4:30 am is anyone's guess but I assume he woke up about an hour before show time. The sound was LOUD..much louder than the NPG show 2 weeks ago and I think it was a little much for the PA because it cut in and out a few times during the show. This was a little disappointing to me given how much a perfectionist Prince is and how his sound crew should have everything ready since it is his venue after all. They played for about 80 minutes and closed with killer version of Bambi which is probably my favorite song by him so this alone made the show for me. The band was incredibly tight and Donna was running back and forth and even played a guitar solo on her back which was very cool. I simply love this band!

I watched the band carefully through the show and Hannah's face seemed to be getting noticably tired during the last few songs but since she is a true professional she still played her heart out. I know by the time 5:15 rolled around I was about ready to pass out but sheer will power kept me from nodding off (I had been up since 5 am the previous morning including a 3 hour drive to Paisley). Once Bambi was finished Prince thanked the audience and left the stage.

Being somewhat of a Paisley regular (for this year at least) I knew that you never leave after the first set. A tip that I can give others is always watch the soundman....once he returned to the board I knew Prince was coming back. At around 6:15 a lot of cameramen came back out and I knew it wouldn't be long and sure enough Prince entered from the back of the room and walked along the side of the crowd back to the stage. There were about 100-150 of us left at this point and we all went crazy...well, as crazy as anyone would having been standing for 2 hours before the show, 90 minutes during the show, and another 90 minutes after the show.

Prince took his place at the sampler and launched into When Doves Cry and played nearly complete versions of quite a few songs (Doves, Hot Thing, SOTT, and Mr. Goodnight were virtually complete). When he started America and moved to the bass I was in Heaven...I have been waiting to see him play bass and finally did...at 6:30 am on a Saturday morning.

At about 10 minutes to 7 Prince ended Mr. Goodnight then wished everyone a goodnight and left the stage. Once again he walked right through the audience to a back door which was very cool.

All in all a great night but I wouldn't have minded one bit it they had opened the doors at 3 am so we could have cut down on the pre show standing time. I would advise anyone who has a chance to definately check out one of his shows at Paisley because you will not regret it.

Doesn't DrF always bitch and moan that people never give him credit for news he puts in his articles? He clearly took the setlist that I posted on here and put it in his write up of the show. Not saying I want credit, just saying that is lame. I also wouldn't consider it 2 shows that night, they just took a break and came back out. A lot of people had left already.

Before the actual concert started, Prince kept coming in and checking the crowd out. I figured they would play, but wouldn't have been pissed if they didn't, since it was advertised as a dance party. I didn't show up until about 2:15am, and got in no problem. It wasn't nearly as packed as a couple weeks before. I was able to walk around and dance freely. It's annoying that people go out there and just stand there and expect a show. I remember once in the 90s, they were going to do a show and everyone was doing the same thing they were the other night (and always do), just standing there and staring at an empty stage. The NPG came out and took their spots on stage and started playing, and Prince started singing from the soundboard at the opposite end of the room. Priceless! People were turning around trying to figure out where he was singing from.

Once again, I want to know and need to understand. As he walked right through that audience...did he even try to act like he acknowledged the very fact that they were there - in spite of everything else involved in their own lives - because of their appreciation of him and his music?

Hopefully, Prince has more sense than to be banging an 18 year old since there's almost a 40 year gap there. I couldn't imagine dating (let alone banging) an 18 year old kid.

What in the world would I discuss with an 18 year old guy after the banging is through? It wouldn't be much of a "relationship" I know that. It's funny to even contemplate.

For security reasons, i dont blame Prince one iota for the quick dash along the wall, crouching a bit, with the Security guy between him and the crowd. C'mon, he acknowledged them when he was on stage. Those fans who feel Prince owes them, even a greeting or a handshake, are the fans that scare me and undoubtedly him.
