I never do set lists, and am honestly worn the freak out from last night. Yea, show was all that. Before the piano solo, I was thinking it was less than epic cause he didn't play. Then he picked up the guitar and I thought " it can't get better than this" Most fun I had since the Essence Aftershow. It's great when Prince is in a good mood. I guess either he's feeling it or he's not. It makes it harder for us, but the fact is nights like Sunday is what made the man into a legend.

Prince's singing was so on point. With all the guitar shredding, you forget how he can sing the panties off. In the beginning, he sang and then hung back. I guess he got a good vibe from the crowd. You could see him getting more and more comfortable.

The encores were true encores, not Pre rehearsed breaks. I'm convined my Parade era tambourine led the cheers for encores

Great setlist last night. I perfer this to the 3rd Eye Girl shows, which by the look of the setlist are quite repetitive.

Most artists rehearse at length for a tour and don't change the set list up much, if at all. I agree, quite repetitive if you're just looking at set lists or listening to boots. I've been going to Prince shows for 28 years. The 3rd Eye Girl shows were a much needed change-up in set list. Call it preference, but I prefer the guitar wielding Prince rather than the band leader Prince. That's not to say I still can't get with the other, if you know what I mean.

I thought it would have been cool though, if it was done like the Minne residency, where instead, fans wouldn't know which band he was going to play with, for the scheduled shows. I think that would have been more cool, because it would have given fans a chance to see him perform with both bands, but I guess he may want to save that kind of thing for a bigger venue? Who knows. At the end of the day, I'm glad I got to see Shelby and Liv perform (including Alice Smith). At least I got that out of it, and happy those who paid the pricey tix for Sunday's show, got what they paid for. What's done is done though. shrug

[Edited 8/26/13 10:50am]

Are you talking about the Dakota shows? I don't think we really knew what we would be getting or even had time to think about which show we wanted to go to, but the pricing kind of let everyone know which show would be the best. All 6 shows were sold out within the hour and I know some die hards who didn't even hear about it until the shows were sold out.

P came back to play a great piano medley. He was flowin. It was a treat to see him intimate like that. We had to hush the more unruly people in the crowd a few times. You could see P's reaction at the drunken shouts. Then, some fool rear stage right yelled out something. Prince looked disappointed, hit a few more notes, trying to regain the mood that was broken. If that dude was within my reach, it would have gotten ugly.

I guess when people pay $200 they feel like they are entitled to act like fools, So sad. Thank God for "The Prince Rules" which I wish were in effect at ALL shows.

I love all sides of Prince but if I had to choose I want to hear him light up his guitar although The Hit And Run/Parade Tour was one of my faves. It's all good! Just no sampler set! I guess that's why I've been an avid fan since the early 80's. So many sides to his musical genius.

Don't insult people. We're having an adult conversation.

You do realize a show ending at 6am isn't everyone idea of "insane" in a good way, right?

You also realize that most people see one Prince show, and decide it's legendary.

The people I know who got in don't even own Prince records. Not even the classics.

They'll tell you it was historical.

No offense, but screw you. Real fans have jobs. Real fans have children. Real fans can't drop hundreds of dollars on a single ticket on the chance he'll perform. Real fans don't necessarily think a parade of nobodies leading up to the main event qualifies as "legendary" & "insane."

Just want to explain to 'SometimesIwonder'. The pics were several pics of the band members (npg) who performed at CW on Wed/Thurs, and the images came from a site which had those images on there, including about 2 or 3 pics of P, when I posted that article here out of good graces, not bad intentions. Anyway, when I saw the message that his images were removed from my post, because they were unauthorized, I thought it was best to ask one of the mods to remove the rest of the pics of the npg band members, and the article from my post altogether, to avoid any purple drama from the purple campers. lol No biggy, it's all good.

I believe that to properly perform, the stage has to be properly warmed up. You want to assure the technical glitches are taken care of, and more importantly, the proper vibe has been set. With a good dj and opening acts, the air will start to be electric with anticipation, as it was on Sunday. Far from being nobodies, the opening acts created the proper atmosphere for Prince's main set.

Yea, we all have jobs and must squeeze every penny is this tight economy. I chose to go after I got the buzz from Hip Hop that Doug was performing and that he thought Prince would sit in. I'm not a big fan of Doug E. I've seen him over 50 times. But he was stellar on Sunday, the way he worked with the band. He did Hip Hop proud. I was wishing some that disrespect Hip Hop as music were there to see Doug. Every genre has performers that suck live. For some reason those acts are promoted and win awards in Hip Hop.

Gawker or one of those sites had second hand reports describing the show ending at 6am with the sun coming up. He went on after 2:30am. Prince wasn't on stage for 5 hours. Anyone claiming that might as well be writing fan fiction.

Yea. Alot of people were not in for the long haul. People have been MTVized, used to 90 minutes canned shows. Plus, a Sunday night. Many had to work, and are bridge and tunnel people. Add the fact that some people went to Barclays beforehand, and you can understand people bailing. I was lucky that I had a few days off and made it back east. It was worth the cramped legs and exhaustion. How many superstars at this stage in their life have the passion to still play club dates? Prince is proving to have more stamina than us in the audience. He truly loves a crowd that dances while he plays as opposed to standing there watching. The reality is, his core base is aging and doesn't have the time, money and legs that they used to.

Yes, but I don't really consider what he was doing on the Parade tour the same as what he does now with the full current NPG. I mean, the focus was still on Prince back then. I've only saw one show with the full current NPG and it was the rehearsal at Paisley Park. Too many covers, too many horn players, and not enough Prince. It was only 10 bucks, so I can't complain and I did have a good time still.

hmmm This site sometimes has a love/hate relationship with Prince that even when we are blessed to be a part of a show so filled with electricity, high power energy and extraordinary showmanship and beyond exceptional musical presentations there is still complaints.

The show was simply phenomenal...no ifs, no ands and no buts...phenomenal!!!

The vocals were crystal clear, moving, emotionally piercing, deliciously sending our artistic spirits on satisfying journey of fulfillment and leaving us saturated and spent after the concert's end. So overwhelming was the pure joy of the concert all you could do was just hug on the people who came from around the country, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Australia and others places around the globe who I was blessed to meet and share love with who ALL agreed this Sunday's concert one of the best if not the best Prince performance AND his friends they had ever attended.

We layered with a paradeof powerful and incredible industry power houses that were the catalyst to creating an ever expanding delightful musical attack against the ordinary great concert experiance...to a superb live musical event.

Each gifted performer brought their own signature eclectic style that rocked us, soothed us, created an atmosphere for excitement/fun/partying to the awesomeness of their unbelievable hot musical styleswhether that was presented in the form of a musical instrument or delivered in vocals that set the table for us being indulged in musical pleasure.

The line-up each complimenting the other providing incrediblysynchronized but wonderfully unique musical...Shelby, Liv, Alice Smith (watch out for this amazing beautiful soulful/rock/pop/funk/jazz/spoken word talent), to the energy and entertainment of Cee Loo Green, to the crowd rocking greatness of Doug E. Fresh (yeah I said it) to Larry Graham's sensational guitar playing(I seen him many times and this was my all time favorite)...to those fabulous NPG Hornz who I like many others were mesmerized by theirr ability to move the crowd through a maze of wonderful outrageously incredible music..

They pointed us to a visibly present Prince who could feel the love, embrace the initmacy of the venue and the unmatchable vibe of New York (I DO NOT live in NYC) that kept him giving us more and more...and more. A friend who was at the recent Denmark concert that was outstanding but this one indescribable and she couldn't believe she was able to witness one the best concerts of her life!

I'm not sure who is reporting on duration of the concert but I was there, exhausted and spent, for every moment and I the concert was over @ about 5:25-35am.

What I am saying for the splurge (my summer vcation although I don't have to justify anything to anyone I choose to) to attend this incredible setting, be in NYC, see beloved friends and meet people from the org, around the country and around the world... and see the best Prince concert I every seen....what is there to complain about? Just called me blessed sun

Was it good 4 U?
Was I what U wanted me 2 B?

If it's not alright...it will B

He was onsatge fro 2hr 40 min... the band was also doing their own thing prior to him hitting stage,, Stop fucking hating,, Go home

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but please don't use that idiotic term "hating" or "hater". I don't hear any hate at all, just differing opinions. You are the one being rude, not powersoul99.
