Blackout

just drove past Hifi and the queue is down swanston and then turns the corner and is down Collins st at least 500m. theres at least 5000 people out the front as the queue also runs up the other way from the front of Hifi towards Bourke st.

the first 700 are gettin in if they are lucky i would certainly say forget it. we kept driving and went home.

what really gets my goat is that to be at the front of the queue you would have had to miss the concert completely and not even have gone...they should make a concert ticket a pre-requisite to get in. We rushed from the last encore, jumped in a car and raced there to Hifi and the streets are RAMMED.

not fair!

sad

I think there's many people out there who don't realise this is a PARTY without any sort of confirmation P will play. They only heard "Prince will b at Hi-Fi" and rushed of 2 stand in line, good luck 2 security with this many people around...

Yep it's pretty crazy. We hung around at the end of the concert talking to security who said they hadn't got the final word on it being over for the night. Obviously the word came that Prince wasn't coming back out, but you could almost gaurantee that there would have been a thousand people outside the Hi-Fi by that point.

We drove past, but had already decided it was likely a lost cause, we just wanted to see what was going on, and damn is it mad out there. eek Cars everywhere, thousands of people lining up, trams stuck in traffic.

I'm glad I got to see him at Eatons Hill. I'm satisfied with that - plus I'm happy I got this tonight too. razz

Abandoned the queue after 90 minutes, so now home enjoying a glass of red wine. I wish they'd tweeted after the concert to give us a chance of getting there.

I don't think we can expect many updates from inside. From my experience there at the St. Vincent gig, the reception was next to non-existent.

mrfreeze, how far are you from the entrance? I abandoned ship as the my spot in the queue reached the corner of Collins and Swanston around 1.20ish.

I wont state the obvious. biggrin biggrin

we left 2:15am. oh well. it was madness. the extent of the cue when we got there straight after the concert at least 3000 people. we were at the front of the cue coz someone held us a spot, then we abondand ship after they let a lot in, then the npg arrived, then nothing for about an hour, no one else went in. we heard the gig would start at 3am. when we left the cue was only swanston street no longer. rumor said the venue is full, but we assumed that to be wrong given we saw only a few got through and in. such ashame missed princes entrance, but hell couldn't see a darn thing there were so many people there, and he is a shortie.

p.s. thank you to all the orgers/fans i met tonight at the arena cafe and also in the cue at the hi fi, special thanks goes to zombie kitten and her hubby for giving me a ride. it was nice meeting up with you all.

I was in the line with about 5 or 6 friends . They all got in, I did not. sad
HOWEVER, apparently he didn't play a thing, just spun one or two records. By being kept outside, I was within 2 or 3 metres of Prince when he arrived to come through the main entrance. Again, I tried to get in the line but was pushed to the very back coz I was not close enough to the wall. Hung with some nice folks at the back of the line and one of them turned out to be the Org's Lust from NZ. Top bloke!
Anyway, we hang around just in hope miraculously getting in, which didn't happen.
HOWEVER, when the NPG left, they all started coming out the main entrance into their cars. By this time there were probably only 20 people still hanging outside. And eventually, out comes Princey again. He was trying to hide his face behind his collar (to hide from people's smartphones. Not my Nokia 3315, obviously) and again, I got quite close to him. So I didn't have to pay a cent and got close to one of my musical heroes cool

Oh and the Rod Laver gig was 10 times better thant the May 15th show that I also got to.

I'm going to bed, I've got a Tai Chi lesson in 5 hours wink

The best spot was to be outside when Prince entered, and left the building.

Bugger paying $25 to wait and really see nothing.

I was able to get a bunch of autographs in my tour book.

Easier to name who did not sign it:

Rashida - asked but talking to her friend and straight into car.

Shelby and Liv - Security directed them straight into car but one of the Twinz wrote in it and told security to hang on smile

Elisa was escorted straight to car and was hard to ask her, but the door opened and I asked if she could sign my tour book if OK with her and called me over to the car door.

Cassie, Ida and Andy then jumped in the car and signed it too.

Told Andy I bought his CD at tonights show and should of had that with me for him to sign.

He seemed really hapy I had got the CD.

Seeing some of the people come out I am glad I did not get in, they looked to of consumed too much alcohol and other substances wink

And that's the enigma that is Prince...you would think the fact there are a squillion fans bringing the city to a halt throught he night would guarantee a pumped up crowd and an electric performance...and it all turns out to be a bit of an anticlimax.

It just goes to show that with Prince you really never know what's going to happen, and you just need to take a chance and do what you can to see him, and be grateful for whatever you get. Frustrating, but predictably frustrating!

I know the ins and outs of being a fan, and we kinda thought this would happen last night, but when they setup a band on stage to tease you even further....... I thought that was a bit too much.

Im not pissed off, cause as we said, we expect this of Prince.

But everything about last night was PAINFUL!

Now I can put my feet up for another 10 years.

the dumbass dj that was there was not much better, pro Prince crowd and he plays 4 songs,

in the 4-5 hours thatv we there, extralovable, love bizarre, gett off(remix version) and kiss, left

about 5am, ferw ppl still hanging around, but nothing was happening.
