I just got my tickets for the 2nd Brisbane show!!!

That is now

Purple Circle on the 18th for me and my wife!

Gold reserve on the 26th for me, my wife and my 13yo son.

My son has grown up with Prince music and I have allways wanted him to experience Prince LIVE. Could not buy 3 purple circle tickets for the 1st show so when the second show was announced we were not going to miss out. A hugh bonus that my wife and I get to go twice!!!!!

Roll on May!

The years have been kind to me..............................it's the weekends that have done the damage!

I got my tix too for the 2nd Brisbane Show (26th!)

Gold Reserve Section S13, Row H, exactly what I wanted. Should have a great view to make up for the nosebleed seats I have for the 18th

I'll be in big, big trouble if he announces another night (like the 19th May as Showbiz are selling for that date right now!!!)

I will ay add the numbers and we must have at least 100,000 tickets to sold, I never knew that so many Aussies and Kiwis were into Prince, even if we take scalpers and lucky fams going to Multiple shows, there must be at least 30,000 unique purchasers. Thats a lot of fans, I would have thought by now his fanbase in Australiasia would be short of 1000 or so. There must be some sclaping and stuff going on. Most people I know either hate him or have little idea of him. Where are all these fans.

I get my numbers, Sydney all phones arena 21,000 x 2 =42,000

Melbourne, Rod Laver 15,000 x 3 = 45,000, and Brisbane (I will guess at least 10,000) so x2 = 20,000. That means 107,000 tickets sold.

Thats pretty amazing for a guy who last troubled our charts back in 2004. Anyone else suspicious

No its not suspicious. He may not have the huge hardcore fanbase of Lady Gaga or the sheer popularity of Beyonce but the name "Prince" resonates with alot people for alot of different reasons. There are so many people, now in their 40s, who grew up in the 80s when Prince was one the biggest names in music. They watched "When doves cry" on the earliest music video TV shows, bought Rolling Stone with Prince's face on the cover, saw "Purple Rain" at the cinema, danced to "Let's go crazy" at the Blue Light Disco. All at a time in their lives when they probably felt most alive. Seeing Prince now is a chance for them to revisit some of that, just for a couple of hours.

Prince also has alot of respect among younger people who are interested in music for music's sake, rather than as a fashion statement. When the Concerts were announced, there was a huge amount of enthusiatic talk about it on JJJ (youth radion station in Oz). It really warmed my heart to hear how excited these 20-somethings were about seeing Prince. They know he's a great musician. They know that so many of the artists they admire, admire Prince. They know he's something special, even if they're not always quite sure why. In short, amazingly, after all this time and all the silliness with name changes etc, the musicianship shines through and the guy still has cred.

But, above all that, alot of people are buying Prince tickets simply because alot of people still appreciate great music played by great musicians.

Phew, The Showbiz.com.au website has now changed from 19th May to 26th May for the second Brisbane show.

All the Gold Reserve tickets for sale at the second show are still in the Lower Circle, it hasn't moved out to the Upper Seats yet, so most of these will be really good views...there are still plenty of great seats to be had! Nothign has sold out yet, Silver is down to single seats only.

Showbiz changed to 26th now, must have been a mistake with the 19th.

I hope these scalpers sold lots of tickets for the 19th and are now in big troubles smile

Prince is a bucket list artist for many. Along with Michael Jackson and Madonna he is someone who epitomised the best music of the 80s and 90s for many and he is one of those performers you think "man I have to see him." I'm not a Madonna fan but even I am tempted to go to one of her shows as I can see the appeal of her.

I also think the popularity of the shows has got to do with multiple factors:

1. he is a great live performer - and has become a must see act

2. they are promoting this tour the right way - as opposed to his 03 tour

3. recent deaths of artists like Whitney and to a bigger extent MJ have potentially amped up the "i have to see him this tour" aspect with the "it might be the last time he tours" reality.

4. It has been 9 years since he toured here last.

5. He is PRINCE! and he is FUNKY!

I am just thankful they aren't rolling out the typical "hear him play the hits for the last time" BS they did for the 03 tour.

I am ridiculously, childishly excited about this.

Got myself a ticket for the 30th May and found flights from Hong Kong (via Shanghai, which is kind of in the wrong direction) that make the trip just about affordable.

When I missed out on the London concerts I thought maybe I'd never get the chance to see Prince live. So to get another shot makes it even better.

Gold S13 Row A for me.

Was going to get Silver, but then decided, WHY NOT! and went gold.

Does anyone know which way the seating numbers run?

Seat 1 starting on the left or right as you face the section from the front / stage area.

That would be awesome! I went there last year for the first time to see Jason Mraz. The sound was amazing. Can you imagine Prince singing Adore in that place???

I heard he was looking at doing a cameo on home and away. Alf kicks him out of the diner calling him a flaming gallah when he orders his coffee with cream.

Very true. I remember hearing someone say (can't remember who - could have been the Peach & Black guys?) that when Michael died that most people were saying that it's rare that we see someone like him but in reality we will never see anyone like him ever again and that we are lucky to have been able to be around at the same time as he was.

I think the same is true for Prince. He's just one of those artists that stand out for so many people.

I'm so excited about this tour that I'm about to burst. And I think my wife is ready to divorce me for all the money that I've spent on tickets (haven't even bought plane tickets yet!). I'll be at the first two Sydney and Melbourne shows and the first Brisbane show. Plus any aftershows I can make. I'm hoping he doesn't wait until the 26th and the 30th to pull out the aftershows.

Which raises the question - what will Prince be doing in the time between the first round of gigs and the second round?
