I'm really hoping Prince will extend an invitation to Jesse Johnson to open for him on either May 12 or 14. He'll be performing that Friday, the 13th, at The Federal in N. Hollywood! Now THAT would be friggin' HOT!!

Friday Night = Sexy, hot, slithering, feeling hisself, clothes changing & strutting, hot dam he got it going ON Prince.
Saturday Night = Fun, funny, Professional, show u what he got, Breaking out the Jams Prince
He's a Gemini with more than 2 sides
My preference I'm a Friday Night fan HE WAS IN RARE FORM because sorry, but i gotta say it, he wasn't feeling so religious. He didn't have to do Darling Nikki his body & soul was doing Darling Nikki INSIDE and it was coming out.
There were no stage slithers Saturday night.
Saturday night was an AMAZING set list. YES LOVED Something in the Water Does Not Compute on Piano, awesome slow grooving vibe on it. And Strange Relationship, Pop Life & SOTT & Hot Thing so fun to hear & groove to. Great show Saturday Night but Friday will be "the one" for me. (I hear Thursday night had the same vibe as Friday, missed it, sad )
Friday night, to me IMHO, his moves looked so NATURAL & involuntary, he just WAS, and brought the house down. I mean the energy was intense. I asked my husband if he remembered how after Prince Concerts the energy in the lobby would be buzzing like LOUD urgent hyped up yell-talking & that's how it was. I mean before the show the merchandise table I walked up to had no one buying a thing at the time. I asked the guys behind the table "No one's buying anything?" & he didn't want to admit but said "a little.". After Friday Nights show I had to wait in line to buy my beret (I love it, it's funky & a great color) & that's when I noticed that hyped lobby energy.
Where Saturday was more of Prince putting on his show, not involuntary. Great Prince Show, again amazing set list & guest Gwen Stefani.
Both great shows IMHO but I loved my Friday Night Prince, unforgettable, old school, same as he ever was, Prince.
I totally agree with the posts above this about Saturday night though (except the one that said better than Saturday, I think it's a matter of preference) Saturday was an amazing performanc.

Friday night, sampler set, after "Single Ladies" snippet at the beginning of "I would Die 4 U" snippet, Prince: "You're such a teeeeease" I don't know if he was talking to himself, me (ha!) or some girl in the crowd. "You're such a teeeease!" razz

It all makes sense now. Prince has been holding back so that we appreciate it when he plays this stuff. Something in the Water?!?!? This is shaping up to be one of those "you had to be there" runs. I'm waiting for Face Down-show them wassup Prince!

Whole Lotta Love with Nikka Costa now... tonight's setlist is pretty good.

shit was off the hook! though it seemed only the white folk knew what song was being played, lol.

Well, I'm not white, but I recognized the song instantly. However, I had no idea who that chick was singing it with Prince! I really liked how Prince added some funk to it!

yesterday was a beautiful day. it started and ended just perfect. the show was off the chain. i couldn't imagine the shows getting better and better but they just are. i have a feeling he's going to build this thing up more than the early prognostigator's predictions on him sputtering out or going away. people were losing their minds on the floor. i think some of the people in the seats need to get in shape and stay standing up but hey, i'm not a trainer... just dance 2 the fonky music people.

the highlight of the night has to be watching the brother from hot tub time machine losing his mind and dancing all night long. he was hilarious. at one point i saw him take a speaker off the stage and put it on his afro. totally amazing. all the while dancing with a drumstick. rad.

I saw Prince April 1998 in Chicago at the Aragon Ballroom on a Friday Night. About 3,000 folks packed in extra tight. He played just shy of three hours. He had Larry Graham and Chaka Kahn with him and mostly did Sly and Rufus material. He played a grand total of THREE Prince songs the entire evening. Personally I didn't give a fuck because those three songs were "Purple Rain" "Days of Wild" and "Face Down." This is when Prince was still one down-ass, buckwild, filthy-ass, pussy-getting-talking-about motherfucker. Prince did "Face Down" with no shirt on in some white stretch pants and a gold chain, jumping off the piano, doing splits, dripping sweat, the whole theatre chanting "Dead Like Elvis" in unison while he ripped that track macked-out don't-give-a-fuck four-letter-word style. It was transcendent than a motherfucker, let me tell ya.

Man, I don't remember exactly which song it was - perhaps it was during "Kiss" - but twice the band stopped playing it and it was just John playing kick and snare and I SWORE - *I SWORE* - they were about to launch into "IT." I mean, they most definitely WERE playing the opening beat to "IT" if only for a few seconds each time. That would have been the ONLY thing that could have made this unbelievable, incredible show any better. "Something in the Water Does Not Compute" just Prince at the piano?? Are you kidding?? I was Loge 7 row E I must've been 25 feet from that piano with a far better view than anyone on the floor when that went down. Are you kidding me?? That more than makes up for no Amel Larrieux. Then he does "Strange Relationship" and RIGHT AFTER "How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore"?? People - a hundred, two hundred, three hundred years from now - the ENTIRE WORLD will be marveling over this man's catalog - and whether 1,000 live DVDs eventually come outta the vault or not - NONE will have AN INKLING of what the TRUE live experience was like. We are the luckiest people that EVER LIVED.

Awwww man I just wrote this long review and it didnt post on here for some reason! : (

Just to make a long story short.... SOMETHING IN THE WATER DOES NOT COMPUTE/STRANGE RELATIONSHIP... OMG! That made my night! Period! Nuff said!

Oh and Sexy Dancer/Le Freak..... I was just aching for him to sing a verse or two of Sexy Dancer. What a tease.

I been to three shows so far in the LA run and 1st night was an extended Prince extravaganza! Last Sat was him in rare form being super flity, sexy, naughty (almost). That was my fav Prince and last night was like a party but with some rare gems thrown in to make it so special. Im still recovering from the purple funk so need to hydrate and rest... smile

EXTRA special thanks to ladyleap2you for the tix! You are awesome. Prince fans are truly the best in the world. Sorry Lorena but Adore wasn't performed last night but I did say a audible happy birthday to you during A Love Bizarre when I realized the show was ending.

Oh and security was ON everyone who was taking video..it was tough to get footage. I took a little... im sorry in know it is against Prince's whishes but dang it I couldn't help it. I got him doing Something in the Water. I will share with those interested PM me. Won't post on youtube..you know how that goes.

phew.. i need rest.
