Do you think Prince features too much of Shelby J.?

Ilove the tour , great shows so far. I personally think that Shelby J. is featured too much, give the other girls some spotlight too. I do not know too much about Olivia, but Elisa , who is Elisa Fiorillo who had the dance hit who found who? with JellybeanBenetiz, She has also had a a top 10 hit with Prince with "I'm on the way up.Prince actually wrote 4 tracks from her album I am. I am not trying to take anything away from Shelby, i just want to see the other girls get some spotlight too.

Hell No!

She has what you call "real soul". Some of these fans today don't recognize real soul because they're so used to that manufactured, no talent BS, they think is music. Secondly, what is wrong with a well-known artist showcasing another artist whose talent he appreciates? Mskes me wonder why all of a sudden some fans don't like the fact that he's showcasing Shelby. I've never heard of Elilsa Fiorillo until Prince brought her on board. I know Shelby and Liv have been doing their own thing before getting on board with Prince, and they are both singers with strong voices. I wonder how come all of a sudden some of you, who probably never gave a damn about Elisa before, all of a sudden are on a mission wanting her to be the "lead" singer in Prince's band. Yes....I went there, now clarify, won't you?

yeahthat I love Shelby's voice. Prince could *never* feature her too much in his shows.

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

What hits? I've never heard of them? Before Liv and Elisa joined the band, Shelby was showcased because she was basically the only backup singer. It seems since the other two joined, they are all given a chance to be in the spotlight. All 3 singers worked the stage on 12/18, and had no problem getting noticed by the MSG crowd. Why do you feel Elisa deserves to be the "lead" singer, and what makes you think you have the skills and experience to make that decision for Prince? lol

True. At the 12/18 show was the first time I saw all 3 singers perform, and I never got the impression one was being featured over the other 2. They all have beautiful voices and harmonize very well together. I think some fans can't deal with specific musicians/artists Prince is currently surrounding himself with for "other" reasons they're not being real about, and want that "80s look" crew back.

lol If you went to the previous shows, you would have seen all the girls "working the stage" and drawing their own spotlight towards themselves. I appreciate all 3 and think they harmonize well. Sure Shelby sings some solos, and so have the other girls on previous shows. I think you believe Shelby gets the "spotlight" more because she has been with the band since 2006, so she is more known to the fans than the other two right now. Quite frankly, I never saw Shelby as the lead singer, even when Marva was in the group, because it never appeared that way then to me, and doesn't now. I see them all getting great exposure as a trio.

I'm not surprised at some of these complaints. If Prince scratched his ass on the left side, his fans would start a thread complaining that he didn't scratch the right side as well, and should do it the next time.

But the thing is, Prince is the one who decides who sings what. He obviously has a lot of respect for Shelby's talent.

How could I make it look like you don't like Shelby when it's your words being expressed across the page?lol You're entitled to your own opinion on this, but you did ask others' opinions about it, so expect there will be some that don't agree with you, doesn't mean you have to accept it, that's your choice.

Anyway, I don't see how you couldn't "hear" Elisa and Liv do their solo parts in some of the songs, at these shows. The lead singer of the band is Prince, not the female trio. Elisa or any of the other two singing solo are not the main attraction of the band, because that would be Prince.

The trio and band members are there to give support, and once in a while have their own solo parts, where they are able to show off their own talents, as well as, when they collaborate with him on some of his songs, during the performance. You said you know about Elisa's past album back in the 90s, so apparently you have seen and heard her do a solo act, so it's not like you never heard her sing solo. I doubt her doing a solo altogether will change anything in the band, although all of the singers have very good voices that project well.

Ok there u go again putting words in my mouth.FYI did you hear say i don't like Shelby, not once did i say that , so get it together. Yeah I know its Prince show and yes its my money and other people's money that put him where he is today.I have no problem with people disagrreeing with me.But dont put words in my mouth that i never said. FYI again i never so Elisa live and if i did what difference does that make about her doing a solo? I have seen Sheila E. and Larry Graham several times so that statement makes no sense. So stick to the facts, thats problem on this site so many people always looking for an arguement on here. If peopel do not like what i said you are entitled to disagree plain and simple, there is no reason lie.

Yeah, I'm dreading the thought of her singing that song on the 29th.

I do think Prince is giving too much stage time to the backup singers, I don't like it.

Dude, you're the one looking for an argument. lol You posted a thread and asked the question, yet you can't handle opinions of those that don't agree with you, so why start the thread?lol

I stated that you knew of Elisa before she was hired by Prince, because of what you posted, and obviously heard her sing solo on her album. I never said you saw Elisa sing solo "live", before she was hired by Prince, so get your facts straight. Whine as you wish, the point is, it's Prince's concert and unless you're pulling the shots, then you'll get what you want, but since none of us are, we're all going to get to see the artists he announced would open his show and he would jam with. You can always make the choice of staying home-it won't stop the shows. Have a good night.

lol Yelling in all caps, won't stop others from giving their opinions, it just displays your anger. If you start a thread on a "public" site, asking for others' opinions on a topic, expect reading opinions you may not like. It's not that difficult. I guess if everyone agreed with you, then it would be okay and we could all sing "Kumbaya".lol Good luck with that and have a wonderful day. thumbs up!

lol Again you make false accusations about your words being twisted. Follow your own advice and "be smart" when starting a thread asking others opinion on a public forum, instead of throwing childish fits and resulting to calling others "ignorant", just because you don't agree with their opinions. When you own this site, then you can tell who can or cannot respond to a thread.

This concert is not about you and was not specifically planned to please your specific tastes, just because you made the personal choice of purchasing a ticket that no one forced you to buy. Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but so are others. .He's performing to an arena of fans from various eras, and it's impossible for any artist to please every, single fan with what songs they want to hear or have particular bandmates do everything, each fan wants them to do. The W2A tour is not a private concert for you.

When you obtain the position of making management decisions for Prince regarding his shows and which of his band members he should give more "shining light" to, then maybe your demands will matter, so with that being said, we will have to agree to disagree. No harm done.

How am I doing you ask? It's obvious, just great...and looking forward to enjoying the upcoming December 29th show with Janelle Monae as one of the special guests. I'm sure you'll continue with your rants, but in the meantime, try and have a wonderful day!biggrin thumbs up!
