Ilove the tour , great shows so far. I personally think that Shelby J. is featured too much, give the other girls some spotlight too. I do not know too much about Olivia, but Elisa , who is Elisa Fiorillo who had the dance hit who found who? with JellybeanBenetiz, She has also had a a top 10 hit with Prince with "I'm on the way up.Prince actually wrote 4 tracks from her album I am. I am not trying to take anything away from Shelby, i just want to see the other girls get some spotlight too.

I don't get this. Shelby is a background singer that sings one or two songs with the other two women. Some of you are acting like he's sharing the stage like how he did with the Tamar show where she really did perform half the show. (and I actually like Tamar). It's not that big of a deal. When P is on stage I'm so fixated on him sometimes I don't notice anyone else, except when Sheila E is on with him. Just relax and enjoy the show and P while you can.

I've never heard of Elilsa Fiorillo until Prince brought her on board.

She's well regarded in the Prince community because she recorded vocals on the duet Love Machine from Graffiti Bridge as well as three tracks from Diamonds and Pearls. The addition of On The Way Up solo means she will be favoured above the girl who sings cover versions in the current band.

I've been a Prince fan for awhile and never heard of her before Prince added her as one of the backup singers. I'm also not so sure she'll be "favored" over the other two, but moreso just remembered by some fans that were/are aware of her past association with Prince. I like Shelby's type of singing as well as Liv's. Elisa's voice is okay, and she can pretty much keep up with Liv and Shelby, but Shelby and Liv's voices are much stronger and carry more weight. However, I like and appreciate all 3 backup singers because they harmonize very well, and when they do get to do their solo parts, they handle it well.

However, I don't see where any of them should be a lead singer in the group, when Prince is the actual lead singer/performer of the group. Shelby has been singing with him since 2006 after his tour with Tamar, and was there before Liv and Elisa, so if she's singing duets with him more than the others, it's obvious Prince likes and wants it that way, and is the one calling the shots.

Clearly and some Prince fans don't appreciate that choice so they start threads on it airing their opinions.

I guess some fans can air their opinions about which backup singers they like, but at the same time, I also think they forget who is the one calling the shots with his own band, whether some fans care or not what he expects from each band member, as well as the arrangements made beforehand as far as what he approves.

I just ordered her Paisley Park-recorded CD today on Amazon for $4.74.

After reading this thread, I decided I needed to hear what the big deal is about her 1990 work.

Thanks! biggrin

It was less than $5.00, so I'm not too heartbroken. It'll just end up on the shelf with other PP stuff... shrug
