Sorry for the lame watermarks, but I started to see these pics pop up all over the place without proper attribution or source information. How lame some people can be.

Is that proper to stand up during Prince's concert?

I really pissed off actually! Didn't enjoy the 18th show.

There was 2 ladies behind me, and they were holding the binocle, and never stand up, even never clap their hands!

When I stood up at the song "uptown", One of them complained to me, said she can't see anything, and required me to sit down!

When Prince finished "Purple Rain", they left. And I was really glad they left! Because I know they will miss the most exciting song "Kiss".

I saw 15th and 17th show, I really enjoyed those 2 shows, even I didn't have good view(the big symbol stage in front me, and it's too tall), but there were no weird people behind me. I never thought about leave because I know Prince will sing "Kiss" after "purple rain", same as 15th and 17th at IZOD.

I'll go to 29th show also, hope this will never happened! It was such a bad area, not only me feel sick of them. We're not seeing a movie, We're seeing Prince. How can we sit and be funky. mad

You can't sit and be funky. My rule with any event is that if the people in front of me stand, I stand. If I'm in the front row and people are up dancing, I'll get up and dance. If nobody else wants to dance but me or if I'm the first one to get up I'll go and stand somewhere nearby where I'm not in the way.

Don't let anyone bad vibe you about dancing at a concert where other people are dancing. If the people behind you complain, politely tell them to go ahead and get security. You're not in the wrong. If security gives you a hard time tell them to make the other 5000 people sit down and you will comply. Otherwise, ask them to let you go to an area where other people are dancing. That has actually worked for me before.

I'm 5/9'1/2...I purposely request for an ailse see just so I can step out and do my screaming and dancing. I always announce to the person behind me and the front of me that I'm a screamerdancerconvulsive type of fan. I figure the pre-warning will prepare them for my antics as I cut the fool!

I was waiting for the person who was sitting behind me to show up to give them my little warning but they didn't come in until Prince hit the stage....I turned around and went to apologize to a 6'ft something person only to realize it was AJ from Access Hollywood. I'm like oh I'm good, now I can REALLY CUT A FOOL! lol

If you want to sit, I'm most definately NOT the one to be around. razz

lol I'll answer it with a question..is it the casual fans fault Prince doesn't play what some diehards want to hear at some of his shows? Absolutely not, we all have our own tastes in his music, and some of the songs he plays at larger or smaller venues, will not be all that every fan wants to hear. We could go back and forth on this issue, but I don't have that kind of time to waste right now.

No thanks on the ice cream, I'm sure it's not my flavor, but thanks for the offer. Have a good day.biggrin

[Edited 12/20/10 6:51am]

and if the casual fan that would hear something new might just like it and want 2 buy so said new material ...hmmmm

i got a box of chocolates 4 ya if u like ...lol

Thanks everyone for the recaps of the concert. Remember, Prince has over 100 Hit Singles. Which means he will play the majority of them in different concerts.

Was at village underground. Our limo driver alerted us when p came in. House band also did a shout out to p. He did not play and didn't stay that long. The house band did erotic city (if i recall correctly, seems they did some p number). I paid $10 to get in and was there about an hour and a half before he arrived. Dj then house band. Crowded n everyone had fun dancing. My cousin thinks he bumped into prince's arm when walked by him, I don't know he was drunk so unreliable info there!...young kids! I heard people couldn't get in after a certain time to club and I know when we went in they were tryin g to steer people into different areas but we just walked up n told doorman we wanted to go into village underground. It could be because it was so crowded they couldn't let anyone else in later but just made room for the celebs. I didn't see one celeb in there but p.

The afterparty was at the underground village, but i dont know what you were saying when you didnt see one celeb in the house. Even the house band on stage had to acknowledge the celebs in VIP. The main singer was like, "Wait a minute, did Spike Lee just walk past my stage? There is alot of money over in VIP tonight y'all, and most of it is probably Larry Graham's!" Prince did not perform for the aftershow, only Larry Graham got on stage to play a little bass during the night. Apparently, the singer of the band and Larry knew each other and they were poking fun at them throughout the night. The security was extra tight on cameras and cell phones, so there were really no pictures getting out of UV that night. They were taking your cameras and going through to delete the pics from the set. I wasnt even sure why people would chance getting thrown out over a picture.

The house band was rather funky though they played Erotic City, Pop Life, and Ballad of Dorothy Parker. But it was a nice mix of everything, rock, pop, reggae, old school and new school that the band was playing. Prince left shortly after a version of Marilyn Manson's The Beautiful People. Wasnt sure if it was the song, or the over hyping by the lead singer "of one of the best guitar players ever" before the song was played. That guitarist was mediocre at best. Anyhow, the guests in VIP were many of the same ones from MSG. AJ, Anthony Anderson, Spike Lee, Questlove, Sinbad, Larry Graham and Graham Central Station, Bria, Dr. Cornel West, Tavis Smiley.

For the people going to the 29th show, I'd keep in mind the Underground Village for the afterparty. It's secluded and just the type of venue P likes to play for an afterparty set. All night, it was like the band was teasing the crowd by saying we're about to get off the stage and let some special people perform, but P never got on, however, the band was funky enough that the VIP section as well as the club was grooving all night.

Thanks, I was wondering when he left. I was in that section but was facing the band so I didn't know when he left. The next thing I knew I turned around and most of the celebs and stuff were already gone or about to head out.

ooohhh cool. wasn't sure from your post... interesting that his first night in NJ he wore flats too, but busted out with heels on the second night. First night in MSG: flats... maybe we'll get the heels on the 29th

Looks like the tickets for 1/18 show are really moving now after the great reviews for the 12/18 show. Two tickets together are up in the 300 level--still decent singles though. Maybe if it sells out, he will add another, especially if he can get another weekend night.

Everyone here pretty much gave a good report of what went down. In the beginning of Prince's segment of the show, Prince and the band opened with a song called "Welcome2America", which is apparently a track with a socio-political tone. I have to say though, that Prince kicked NYC's ass last night at MSG with his performance, as he mopped, swept, waxed and shined the funk out of MSG last night, while seducing and teasing the audience in that red hot, sexy outfit he had on, and the moves he made in

it--lawd have mercy ladies and gents--I'm just sayin' lol It kind of felt like he took us back to the Lovesexy era for a minute. I also loved the version of "Kiss" he sang during the performance.

Prince worked every corner of the stage the entire night, as well as, the back part of the stage, where some fans had concerns, that he may not frequent that location during the show. He was definitely in high energy at MSG. He had the majority of the audience on their feet most of the show. I loved the black cape he had on when he came out to jam with Larry Graham, during Larry's performance. It was similar to the one Janelle Monae wears when she performs. His performance of "The Beautiful Ones" was awesome and ballet dancer, Misty Copeland dancing while he sang that song, helped to top the performance.

Prince and Larry brought a double-dose of funk when they jammed together. I have to say, I was impressed with Larry's bass playing, and the appreciation he received from the audience. He kicked that bass' ass all over MSG last night. The funk was so dense from his bass playing, foot spray and disinfectant would not have had a chance in clearing that funk out. I have more appreciation and respect for him as a bass player/musician, especially one who played with Sly and the Family Stone, and was part of some great hits/classics from an era where so many socio-political events were happening at that time. Larry proved and is is definitely the King of bass and funk, no question.

One of the nicest moments of the show, was the duet with Prince and Shelby singing, "Nothing Compares 2 U" and how they performed it. It was not hard to notice the respect and appreciation among their friendship. I also have to give Shelby, Elisa and Liv a hand, because they too "worked the stage", every part of it, hyping the audience as well. I loved the large, gold fans all 3 ladies were waving while singing on some of the songs, as they stood by the piano at one point. Their harmonizing is so on point.

Sheila E came onto the stage like the beautiful Queen she knows she is, wearing an eye-catching, fitted, gold and black dress with a short train. She had the audience in awe when she graced us with her presence and performance, and naturally as always, NY gave her love. Always good to see Sheila E as part of Prince's concerts. One funny part, was when Sheila E came back out, after she changed into pants, and she handed Prince her jacket, and he walked away with it to find somewhere to lay it, and when he laid it down on the bench, (Edited this part thanks to orger "Efan" clarifying what Prince said-->) Prince said "Don't sit on this" to Renato:lol:

As for the celebrities, it was hilarious when Prince called Sherri Shepherd on stage, he told her to come up on stage, and then said "Oh no not Sherri Shepherd!", to Sheila E, and jokingly played like he was about to run away, but came back and said (paraphrasing) "Sherri, come up here and show us what you really want to do!" Earlier during his performance, he gave Sherri a shoutout during one of his songs, so those of you who were in the PM&M forum a couple of days back, criticizing her over that statement she made to him, it was apparent last night, that Prince appreciates Sherri Shepherd and apparently had no problem calling her on stage last night.

There was quite the celebrities there, Prince and Sheila E called up Dr. Cornel West, ?uestlove, Naomi Campbell, Sherri Shepherd . Then other celebs got up there--Alicia Keys, Spike Lee, AJ Calloway, and more. Also, Bria Valente got on stage to dance as well, and she looked very pretty, in a sparkling, black dress with an open back. They were all having a good time. I saw some fans complained that it was because of the celebs that he didn't do another encore, but I believe it was the 11pm curfew is why there was no second encore, and it was already around 10:45pm when the celebs were called on stage, so no I don't think there would have been another encore regardless. A friend of mine text'd me, who had a friend who worked there to let her know, that was it for the night.

Good show;good performance, high energy. I have to say that anywhere you sat, other than the VIP/floor seats, you had a good view, thanks to the jumbo screens, which although I was sitting in the promenade 100s section, the big screens helped a lot, and you were able to have a very, good view of what was going on onstage. Can't wait to see what they bring on 29th at MSG!headbang
