I wouldn't worry about missing this show. What a boring setlist.

I was in section 11 row D with my daughter, she almost made it onto stage. These were originally $500 seats, but I was able to exchange for them when they sold them as regular seats. Sad to say, but these seats had better views than the VIP $750 seats, those were just too close to the stage to be able to see much, even standing up, especially the ones right on the stage itself. As rickyprynce said, there was no waiter service for them or anything. While I was fortunate, it kind of sucks that people paid $750.00 or $500.00 for a seat that I got for the regular price and there views were worse and there were no perks that night. All dancers as he said were from that section. That quadrant going all the way up in general is the place to be for these concerts. I would rather have my 300 level seats where they are for MSG than to be in a similar section on the back side of the stage where he rarely went, or even on the other side. The only advantage on the other side is the piano, but he is basically stationary at the piano when he was there (he did climb on it a couple of times) and we could see that fine from our side. Most all of the guitar playing was in our quadrant.

OHHH she made it onstage! that is awesome! i cannot wait to be right near the piano 2morrow. what a show. faint

1) Some of you folks whine too much.

2) If any of the VIP folks got into the afterparty it was those who paid $750/seat for a private table. They paid WAY too much for those seats and should get something extra imo. As one poster said, the view isn't even very good from those table seats.

3) I don't necessarily expect to see the same stage setup if/when Prince comes west. It seems like these NY/NJ shows were feelers to see what kind of demand there is. The first 2 MSG shows sold well, but not IZOD. They even went as far as to cancel one of the IZOD shows which could be significant in determining how the rest of this tour will unfold. I'm not convinced that Prince will take that guitar shaped stage on the road with him to every show. The promoters may opt to play some smaller venues in certain cities where demand may not be high enough to fill a basketball arena in the round. Either that or he will only play in bigger cities which will suck for a lot of folks. I also wouldn't be surprised if they scaled down the number of $500 VIP seats because a lot of those didn't sell at IZOD. There are still plenty of $500 seats available for the 1/18 MSG show as well. It almost pays to wait until the last minute when they remove the VIP designation from the remaining seats and sell them for $200.

All this tells me is that if Prince does come to SF, he will probably only play one show. I don't see him packing Oracle Arena in Oakland than one night. Not in the round, at least He might play a show in San Jose at HP Pavilion as well, but that would be the most I would expect and there's no way that show will sell out. Frankly, I would rather he played a multi-night engagement at a smaller venue. I would save my $750 for a friggin table seat and see a few shows instead.

2elijah, Idon't think I know U but I do Love U. U really stay on top of things and I njoy your insight. Thank U. Just had 2 say that.

I paid 1,500. VIP for the two seats and am going to four shows (ouch!). Unfortunately, other than a REAL close front row, 6' away with just a velvet rope and an annoying floor based spot light that semi blocked my view until I shifted my chair as I was right by Renato we got nothing more than a laminated pass & ticket (good for nothing...which we were pre-warned). Thought we might have the opportunity to dance on stage but NO, would've been nice and that stage could def. hold more than they brought up (prob. security concerns??) no biggie been there done that and its already a lifetime memory.

Hoping some additional consideration will be provided to ALL VIP Sections especially after hearing about this little private after-show. On the plus side we did love the seating arrangement and spacious floor dancing room plus getting drenched with purple star confetti (first thoughts when that happened was "Baby your the purple star" LOL). If lastnight is as good as it gets? That's fine but it would be nice to receive a little more priveleges if they become available to just a select few then they should be available to all who are investing this type of money.

If anyone from Livenation or P's camp is reading, org note me....we can talk!!!!!! As a 30 year plus fan who could've sung most every song backwards lastnight I might have a good idea or two (like many of us here at the org).

lol Why thank you. I asked because I figured paying $500 or $750 is a lot, and if there was an afterparty planned where some VIP members were going to be allowed in, then maybe that should have been one of the perks LiveNation could have added to the VIP tix. At least that would have been known ahead of time, and those who paid less would not have expected that as an offer with their tickets. May not sound fair, but there would be no argument or question--after all, most times when you pay more for something, there's a possibility you're offered more for your buck. It's not even a complaint really, but it's only natural to wonder how some VIP members got into an afterparty, who paid the same VIP prices, as others who were not offered entry to the same function or maybe the latter was just not aware of it.

Now of course, if the afterparty was a privateevent where only VIP members or those invited to the afterparty, consisted of and was limited to the artist's family members/close friends/celebrities/industry associates, etc., then that's a whole different ballgame altogether, and would have nothing to do with the average/casual or diehard fan.

This aftershow was probably put together more out of convenience than the need of filling up a space with fans. There aren't many(any) smaller venues located near Izod Center to make an full scale aftershow very convenient to the fans or for Prince's crew. The MSG shows are another story entirely. Prince has a multitude of nightspots to pick from. Several spots are already noted as not being booked for these nights.

THIS. I thought the same thing, there reallyw as no way for them to do an aftershow anywhere else... Jersey isn't like NYC in that there woulda been a club available for them to just go and start jamming.

I checked the BB Kings calendar a few days ago... says they are closed for a private party on the 18th. I'm waiting...

ORLY???? That would be SOOOO hot. like burning hot. I've seen P before but have never been to an aftershow, I really hope if he does one I'll be able to experience it. I personally wouldn't care if the band banged on tables and he jumped on top of one and barked like a dog, at least I'd BE there to see it!

It's not far from MSG on the train. Just take the 2 or 3 train from 4th street to 125, when you get off the train the Apollo is RIGHT THERE.

A cab would be about $10 or so I'd say, depending on traffic.

Approx taxi fare (a real yellow taxi with a meter) to Apollo from MSG will be approx $20. Plus 4 for a tip.

Or simply take the A train (yes, that A train) from MSG (penn station) up to 125th for $2.25 and walk across 125th street to the Apollo.

U think it will be that much? $20? U may be right, I rarely take cabs... mostly because they are so expensive. lol

U tip too? You're good! Since they've raised the fares I only tip if the cab isn't funky. cool

125th Street (Harlem)
The Apollo Theater
Get there by taking the A, B, C, D, 2, or 3 trains uptown from Manhattan. Get off at the 125th Street stop and you will be on 125th Street when you exit the subway station.
