Nice show report

Just back in hotel after the show at Nikaia. I wasn't the lucky one who got Prince's guitar that he threw into the audience at the end of the show!!! Someone else also got his towel and loads of peps got drum sticks!!

Concert started at 9.45ish and ended at midnight.

Opened with Purple Rain - Prince came on after 5 min intro.

Set List - not all in right order:

Purple Rain
Let's Go Crazy
Delerious
Shhh
Let's Get Funky mashed up with
Controversy and Alphabet St - girls in audience chosen by Shelby come on stage to dance
A Love Bizarre
1999
Cream
Angel - Shelby vocal, Prince off stage for first part
Nothing Compares 2U
When Will We Be Paid
Housequake Chant
Kiss
Shake Your Body
Everyday People
I Want To Take You Higher
Guitar
Mountains
Forever In My Life
Little Red Corvette
Take Me With U
I Love Everybody and Everybody Loves Me Quote
Dance

Prince calls on mobile to guy on stage to say the aftershow is at Club Palais in Cannes - other post says it starts at 5.30am.

Sorry not going to make it - hope someone will post set list...
Dance

from moquake aftershow report in cannes:

From Schopki.com (user: Gillouf), translated with Google translate:

Relatively short (after an interminable wait in an atmosphere unbearable) ... It started around 4-15 and it ended at 5am ...

Renato was present ...
Prince has essentially covers (aside girls and boys (super version), Cream and Ol 'School Company ...
The show also gave some the impression of being a tribute concert for Prince to his masters ...
It began with an instrumental and then chained with a version of The Jam super nervous ... Then he continued with Thank You by Sly Stone (slow version then speed version). It continued with "We want to be free, Baby Love" and "When We Will my Paid ...And everything ended with a furious version of Sex Machine ...
I'll leave it to the pros now and I'm going to bed ...

I'd say the Nice show was really NICE...He created a really grooving atmosphere in the arena...everybody dancing and singing with him...

It was a pity to loose Geneve concert, and it's a pity that he left from Europe...

I don't think so. People will complain no matter where they are since after all they are the same people we're talking about. The org. has been around for a long time and always the first one to post the latest news. My opinion is people are back to their routines, catching up on work and family or indeed this last tour hasn't been that big of a success.

I have been to 4 concerts of this tour ( Berlin, arras, werchter, vienna). I haven`t seen so much

enthusiasm and euphoria....people were screaming like crazy;)

And the venues were packed....The press reviews very phenomenal in germany....( best musician, greatest performer etc)....didn`t read one bad review....so the tour is a big success....^^

I read that Misty Copeland appeared on-stage in Nice. Does anybody know why she was in Nice and not at the other shows? I.e.: coincidence? Planned?

The Nice show was a fairly standard show; well executed and great sounding, thus very enjoyable.

The encores really made this show.

Because of the fact that this was the last show of the fairly short tour he spoke a few words during the encores and really transmitted some emotion that way.

Hey! you were there too? He did talk to the audience during one of the encores, he was becoming emotional but was interrupted by someone who shouted "we love you" he then went on to to say he loved us too and continued with a song, I don't remember which one... anyway I had fun during the concert. Even if Prince looked tired (I was close) he enjoyed himself and smiled a lot!

what makes me wonder is that he performed a lot of the time the same songs at this concerts.

Kind of unusual for him.

But it was really recognizable that he had a great time in Europe. He smiled a lot and had a lot of fun.

My guess on why there isn't such a big posting hype around this tour must be cause we all were a bit surprised by the sudden dates, so we only had like a month or 2 to get fired up, then the venues and countries were kind of unusual to, it was a hit&run kinda thing and then there were all the speculations and fears up untill a week before the gigs if it would really happen or not. Eventhough I enjoyed a great Werchter gig, the whole ticket sale mix-up, slow sales and strange overall feeling made it a Tour Bizarre which led the orgers stunned...I GUESS?? Besides that Prince has a setlist that is not very surprising (overall very similar to the 2004 Musicology tour and the O2 shows), so without saying that the shows were predictable, the setlists don't give us the chance to start a post which is interesting enough to share. So please don't interpretate this post as a complaint just another light on the case. LOVE IT that Prince came to Europe this summer!

You'd be smiling too if you got the cash he did.!!

As he said in the 20ten interview, he only came to Europe as he got an offer he couldn't refuse!!
