Aftershow at Viage (Brussels)

Prince aftershow in Viage.

juli 11, 2010

Foto’s maken of filmen was verboden.
How come you don’t call me anymore’. Grandioos. (svs)

google translate, broken english but hey better than nothing..

The so-called ' after shows ' are still more legendary than that of Prince than its regular concerts. After a huge Stadium concert has the superstar sometimes feel like in a small club to go jamming with his group and with musical friends. The location is chosen very last minute (sometimes a couple of hours before the after show), the time will depend on the whims of Prince. you must be the hysteria in the Princefan proposals and associated that his hero will be an intimate and secret show playing in a club where the artist and the audience can touch each other! In the night from Saturday to Sunday, the rumor (by SMS and Twitter) that Prince in Viage to the Brussels Anspachlaan. Around four hours at night crept the band of Larry Graham on the stage and repressed a four hundred attendees. Prince ran just as between the public (with bodyguard of course) and accompanied the band. He did so very modest: a sun glasses on, a hip hop jacket with cap on the head, in a corner of the stage playing the guitar, a look behind the drums. Little by little shuffled Prince to the front to the man after half an hour took control. For a love he played a nasty, long, drawn-out version of ' cream ', he led his band by a few classics of Sly Stone, left his gospel singers ' what have you done for me lately "of Janet Jackson singing (in a pumping seventiesfunkversie) and took place behind the piano for a Jazzy feast version of ' all the critics love you in New York", where the people were allowed to dance on stage. Take photos or filming was prohibited. As Prince didn't own a videographer reprimanded ("Stop taking pictures! It bores me ") that the security was given. it put the mystery and the exclusivity of this mini concert (well, one and a half hours!) only in the paint. After a whole series of steamy, inky jams (in fact than the directionless improvisations in Werchter), Prince wide smiling with a fantastic Sung "How come you don't call me anymore '. Magnificent. I was prepared to go to the aftershow...

but I phoned the friendly manager of the venue at 2 am from my Hotel in leuven. He told me at that moment noting was prepared for live music. and he personally didn´t espect Prince to play.. neutral .

so I went to bed ...and was really sad after breakfast checkin at moquake that he played an show... sad

what to learn ??

Was Dr. Funkenberry always right in the past ? (like the Montreux annoucement)...?

But waitin until 4 o´clock in the morning to get in ......high borders to get into an Prince aftershow...but everybody got in ??

Aftershow was awesome and yes everybody was ably to get in, inside was room for at least 100 more ppl. At the start we had to wait downstairs at stairs but once people were allowed to go up and all went wrong and glass of the stairs broke wich cause some kind of panic. But security didnot prepare themselfs for the diehard princefan! The club itself was a nice and clean one with about 7 different kind of rooms. We had to go all the way up and find ourself again waiting in a line of people. Then came the news that u have to pay 80 euries cash only, yeah this kind of concerts are a real nice moneymakers since they want cash only! But ok once we overcome all our issues we were inside the club what looks most likely like a TV-studio u were really close to the muscians. It started with Larry playing almost the same set as on the show in Werchter, while prince was already on stage in the background playing his guitar. After a while he went inside the crowd just to get to the soundboard and make some final adjustment to the sound. Again prince back on stage just playin his guitar no solo's just some riffs. Later some people in the band change like his female drummer and keyboard player. Then prince came out of the darkness( smile ) and even start to sing. Cream was a funny song especially with his background vocals also he interact alot more with his harmonica player then he did on Werchter. At last all the muscians were onstage Larry's band and Prince his one wich give u 4 keyboradplayers 2 bassplayers 2 guitarplayers and it became a real funkjam! Like in Werchter concert Prince came back 2 times(less then the 4 times in werchter) and ended with a nice vocal/piano song with his backgroundvocals. Once outside it was defintly worth the 80 euries (cash only) to see the little master playing again........

I think "repressed" is a bad translation ... what the article says is that when Larry Graham went onstage .. about 400 people squeezed into the room.

Although I think 400 is a big number ... I think it was more like 200 people or so.

Inside Prince’s Brussels Aftershow – Photos

www.drfunkenberry.com

As we were fortunate enough to pass onto you, Prince played an after show in Belgium over the weekend in the city of Brussels.

There was first an hour set by bass legend Larry Graham (surprised he was jamming that late) and then Prince took the stage with his own band and jammed for another hour.

We heard Prince played a new song from his 20Ten CD entitled “Future Soul Song” and that must sound great live. Errr….not like I would know what the song sounds like yet or anything. Ahem. It’s like my Internet connection is dead or something.

Prince wore a t-shirt over a dressy hoody and jammed on his signature guitar, the Hohner. Check out the EXCLUSIVE photos above…..for now. Although we were not there, we want to thank Prince and his peeps for passing the word onto us.

Prince looks GREAT in the photos and playful. There are rumors of an aftershow in Vienna but nothing has been announced officially. If we get word, we will pass it on.-Dr.FB

Thanks to CKOneParis for the photos.

I agree. I drove from England & would have loved 2 have gone. I was also staying in Louven & would have at least appreciated knowing there was an aftershow. I suppose the days are gone where announcements are made by him or the band over the mic. Even a few flyers given out @ the end would have done the trick!! C`est la vie indeed!

It was frustrating also for us, we came from Rome and Milan and stayed in Mechelen ... and missed the aftershow! I've never attended an aftershow in the 4 gigs I saw so far ... sad
