Sorry but I don't buy that. If you're trying do something to plesse everyone, then give it up because you're probably doing it wrong. Miles even said that.

I'm glad P seems to be getting some life back in his music.

I guess he could have moved a little more or something but other than that, the performance was hot, IMO. I love that song. When the harmonica player started, it was awesome. Great background vocals. And those synths, damn.

Love the descending synth notes towards the end. I NEED to hear this live.

Me too. I dig the album version an awful lot, but that was not a great performance. I like what I've heard of Fredrick's work elsewhere, but I don't think Harmonica is the right choice for this track. I think Renato would have been a better addition.

On another note, I'm assuming the white girl is Elisa. Was she always round, or is that new? I've got the CD at home, but don't recall anything but a close up on the cover. I don't mean to offend anyway here, just wondering.

That harmonica guy was so over the top that he detracted from the performance. He looked like one of those delusional loser Prince fanatics that you have to deal with at every Prince gig. Renato would have been a better choice - or better yet a sax - where was Eric?

The harmonica guy in my opinion was not good for the performance. It just did not sound good near the end of the song. I'm not trying to find negatives or anything, but harmonica guy should have been left out of the line up.

Just watched the performance 4 times over.VERY COOL! It also reminded me of `Come On` previously. Was that really a decade ago?? I`m amazed at how good he looks & how everything seems so effortless!
However the clown clothes the band were wearing were distracting 2 say the least:
Frederic seemed about 9 feet tall when stood near 2 Prince & what was up with his Leo Sayer hair & Darth Vader cloak plus far 2 much excited headbobbing??
Elisa? looked as tho her grandma whipped up her outfit 5 mins before they were due on plus she ran out of material! Also it`s obvious that she`s still on trial as she hasn`t earnt a symbol tambourine yet!!
As 4 Cora`s hat.WTF was going on with the out of control feather?? I just wanted 2 reach in2 the screen & snap it off!!

Bring back Michael B & Sonny T.

Hold On 2 Ur Wigs!!

I can't really understand how anyone wouldn't dig that. He blew it up.

The background vocals were the strongest he's had.

Frederic WAILED on that harp... he was also playing harmony with horns and vox.

He's a great addition.

Morris TORE that synth line up.

Agreed. The performance was tight. Love the song, especially the synths, can't say it enough.

I was quite happy with the performance. It was funky as hell!

I LOVE the underlying groove on that song. Tight.

If that was a "bad" performance, I pity anyone who's around for a good one.

I'm actually glad he's gone back to that lazy funk groove ala Jam of the Year. Haven't really heard anything like this in a while.

Every time I watch the Tonight Show performance at this link, it's real choppy, which proves that Jay Leno is an uncaring asshole. I'm gonna sue NBC if they don't give me my $77 back. mad mad mad mad mad mad

Was an OK performance , didnt really care for the arrangement of the song so that meant it was hard to get excited . He's performed way better ( and better songs ) on Leno before now .

I know right? I thought Prince pulled up that fanatic in San Francisco who is at every show up onstage with him to play harmonica. He needs to go.

Reminded me a lot of his performance of "Come On" on Leno more than 10 years ago. It was just a party jam - fun!

Yes. time IS catching up with Mr Prince. One must remember - when one reaches a certain age - its not advisable to do too many high kicks and low splits. The groinal region must be treated with care, and anyhow - one cant see as well as one used to. One doesn't have to reach as high as one used to either....
Yaaaaawnnnn..... here's another generically funky little tune I came up with in my sleep - I'll just stick the chords from Purple Rain at the top because it shows how cheeky and clever I am..... I'll just do exactly the same punches, stops and starts that you all can predict from my last 8 albums and I'll just use the ..... same..... yawn.... chords..... ahhhh.. yawn - but ... in a a different..... orderrrrr..... yawn.....zzzzz.

No, it was not that bad...
Matter of fact, it was not bad, just not as good as I thought it would be.
I sho don't expect that man to be doing splits anymore....I hope no one else does either...
I think it was more just a bit too much going on in the background...really.
I thought the song was nice and fun
-you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude!

I guess I'm a little confused (once again). I mean...he could have DESTROYED the stage with Dance For Me...but didn't. He seems to be intent on pushing these free form jam sessions on the general public. While we LOVE them in concert, they just don't do well when you have 3 to 4 minutes to show the people what cha got.

There's a commercial to sit through and whatnot, but you can fast-forward to about the 38 minute mark to see the performance.

This is the Ol' Skool Company performance, btw.

That Dreamer song Sucked for the situation, certainly didn't make me feel like I gotta go out a buy it! Hope he does Crimson & Clover
We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced
when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.
