I went to see Prince at the O2 on the 9th (I've only just got back home from the concert), and I thought Prince was awesome. The extended version of Musicology was supercool.

The concert was pure genius, and I loved the encore the most when Prince played Sign 'O' The Times, Raspberry Baret, I Feel For You and Controversy etc.

As Prince said "21 nights is not enough". I hope Prince comes back to the UK to play some concerts even without his hits.

I LOVE PURPLE RAIN! It's a Prince classic! I LOVE PURPLE RAIN! I'll never get sick of hearing it. NEVER!

well that's why the gold experinece tour was so great ..there was no purple rain ..same thing 4 a good majority of the ONA tour..great times!!!
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I'm tryin to watch Lord of the Rings. It's just so boring. I'm watching vids on my PC and reading what you guys are writing. Far more entertaining.

I bet he finishes with Days of Wild!

i wouldn't mind him doing days of wild 4 21 nites in row instead of purple rain woot!

I mentioned Adore on friday night under a thread which was something about what Prince videos people were at home watching. Judging by a number of the songs Prince did tonight, they have been mentioned on here the last couple of days so I'd say that somebody, somewhere, is definitely reading them and listening.

Just got up (reluctantly). I did promise to chip in up-dates but my wi-fi connection timmed out and was having too much fun to log back in. Thanx Sqiggle for naming adore, I have to ring my daughter who loved it but I couldn't name it despite singing along!
I thought P was on top of his game tonight, relaxed and enjoying himself, great set list. Thought the crowd was un-responsive, esp early on and esp A2-B2 and the tier behind.
o2review, you mentioned Big guy in Purple dancing, you didn't mention him singing!!!! lol, actually he was 110% better than I would have been!
Good night, My daughter's first P gig (if you exclude going in 1990 when her mum was 5 months pregnant with her).
That's enough from me no one reads long posts.

well, you must have a 'crystal ball'!!!

it's a great version though...years ago i always thought controvery was a weak live song, but the o2 shows have proved me wrong!

cheers for the updates O2review, much appreciated

I have a couple of non prince fan friends there tonight, will be interested to hear what they made of it...quite a few covers there tonight, but then a new additions for the fans too, something for everyone i guess!
Well, I've got Crystal Ball but that's not quite the same. lol

I think he's done the two together every time he's done them, so it wasn't a great surprise. Like you say though, it's no bad thing as it's a superb version of Controversy that they're doing.

What did your mates think of the show?
RIP sad

Hi All,

I didnt do too bad a job of the set list then. I dont know the full back catalogue well enough to always get it bang on especially with the sound quality offered in the O2. The treble is too light (so harder to hear the vocals) and the base too boomy. Plus with all these covers being played its hard to work out what is sort of familiar prince and what is sort of familiar someone elses track. The best of you sounded great though.

Re Lets go crazy at the start we had about 10 seconds of it which is why i didnt bother listing it.

Loved the photo line ... very good. Agree re the 3121 reference as well. Always seems to do an amazing after show when he refers to it someway in the main show (shame i have to work in the week as missed it again damn!!). He made a few references to 21 nights not being enough. I spotted the 3-5 seconds of your song in amongst the wonderful world too.

During Black Sweat, "...scream like Naomi Campbell when I count to 3..."

Talking of attendees, there was a girl outside the VIP entrance to IndigO2 who had more than a passing resemblance to Vanity (circa 1983).

[BORAT VOICE] Very nice! I like!

I've only spoken to the one so far, she really enjoyed it, was really happy with the seats/view(even though she was in the upper tier) she's quite short, so i think the steepness meant she didn't have to worry about having her view blocked

she was gutted he didn't play cream as she likes that, and gutted he only played part of diamonds and pearls...as that's the other one she likes

her knowledge of music is so bad, she didn't recognise any of the covers! - which is odd, as i thought the covers would probably appeal more to non fans!

all in all, she's not a prince fan, and she loved it, said she'd like to go again!
