Well it was my first aftershow last night too.

Hubby and I were at the side just up on the step so I got a better view than at the concert. I enjoyed it as a club night but as soon as Prince went off I was outa there. With 2 small kids my normal bedtime is about 11pm so 3am was fairly late to say the least for me.

I was a bit bored I have to say with all the horns. I did have a good dance though and parts of it rocked for me. Prince was amazing and also pulled that sharp suit off to perfection!

That cherry red suit was drool-tastic!!

i just wanted 2 hear prince play 1 aftershow and tear the motherfucking roof off the place with his guitar, and he did that last nite. that was worth the price of 42 tix alone

i always wanted him 2 play something from spectrum, and he played stratus last nite, tearing it up on guitar with renoto on synths and cora doing her best cobham style. she was impressive

and candy's shoes were fierce

i can't wait till u guys c the amazing pix

You can say THAT again. wink

His guitar playing had my hairs - or whatever ones I've got left giggle - standing on end last night. I was absolutely gobsmacked at one solo, in particular. omfg

Absolutely AMAZING gig. I am so pleased you enjoyed it too. highfive

Hey sweetheart. hug

Yes - you will be able to see him. wink It's a raised platform/stage so whether you're upstairs or downstairs, you shouldn't have any problems. You are going to LOVE it! hug

Unfortunately for me it had been a long day and i was knackered by 1.00am.

I was just about ready to leave when prince walked on stage which gave me a new lease of life.

I couldn't be bothered getting close and into the crowd so hung back and propped up the bar.

Perfectly good view with lots of breathing space.

An excellent finish to a fantasic day and one i will never forget.

I thought the aftershow was amazing, as did my Wife who is young and not into jazz.

Where I was 6ft from the front the crowd were really into it. Loads of shouting, cheering and crowd response.

Prince was truly mind-blowing on the guitar and '3121' tore the roof off.

HOWEVER, if you're going to the aftershow for 'hits' or you do not appreciate good playing and instrumentals. If Maceo Parker and Candy Dulfer etc, are not your favourite band members and Prince playing guitar without singing is not your idea of fun you might want to either lower your expectations or go home instead.

I am in no way denigrating Squirrelmeat, just conveying my experience of the show.

YES YES YES!! I totally agree

I had a phenomenal night!! Loved the band's jamming but did notice not all the crowd were into it rolleyes
Oh there were TONS of very drunk people, I guess they were to tired & emotional to enjoy the Musicians. Also I was very suprised that noone was really groving to DJ Rashida early on and chose instead to stair at the stage curtains for 2hrs with a pint in their hands disbelief She played really good funky tunes too... I felt for her as the atmosphere was quite sedate.

I was alone so was asking strangers if they were orgers ( I was hunting for Steverm as I owe him a drink!) but they mostly looked at me like I was weird...
so I decided to grove alone!
Prince seemed to favour stage left which is where I was so I didnt mind one bit!! he would walk off stage whenever a flash from a camera happened yet the people with cameras didnt take the hint!! and continued to disturb his performance.

rolleyes disbelief

oh the whole I had the best time.

glad to hear you had a great time, its a shame you coulndnt find any orgers, if i was there i definately would of partied with u, ive' seen maceo and candy perform live , and they blew me away, (then again i do play the sax, so they are my idols) guess ill have to wait until saturday smile

Thought the main show was absolutely BRILLIANT!!! - top class PRINCE but as for the aftershow, got bored myself and my friend started falling asleep. Been to other aftershows which have been out of this World - got five more aftershows booked - things can only get better - £50.00 for my friend and myself and £20.00 taxi fare to get back to the hotel after joining the VERY LONG queue!!!

Hmmm - I'm a bit worried now. I'm going with my very unenthusiastic hubby and I was REALLY excited to get aftershow tix coz I thought that it might be a great show, intimate and exciting (OK - I know it was probably naieve of me, but I've never been to an aftershow so please don't flame me!)

I'm thinking that DH will probably get bored and pissed off. Shit.

I just read my tickets and they say 'downstairs unreserved' are these seats or is this standing? I can't figure out whether I got good tickets or not sad
I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

C'mon and dance while you, while you still have your cherry babe, cherry babe..

Those are great tickets. Free to roam and easy access to the bars/toilets.

Don't let some negative comments (like mine!) put you off. I've been to so many aftershows so I compare each new one with the likes of small club and emporium.

Seeing P in your first aftershow is great, no matter what he performs! You'll get to see first hand what a great musician he really is.

I can't believe all the negative reviews here! The aftershow was amazing! I was right up front, and after Prince came on and did his first guitar solo, he passed his guitar out to the audience and... oh my god... I actually touched Prince's guitar, and one of his little red shoes!! (never wash, never wash!!)

The music was really tight, mellow in places, funked up, faultless.

Prince isn't your bitch - you get as much as you a willing to bring to the party!

Thanks Squirrel - that's put my mind at rest a bit. I talked to my other half and he's ok with it - as I say he's not really a fan but I think it's like going to a premier football match when you're not into footy - you get caught up in the atmosphere. biggrin
