amazing how many people think this is a bad move when the last official news was that he was going to be booking bands at the Rio and joining them on stage once in a while.....somehow that turns in to "Prince is a Vegas Act" now? okay...whatever

Yes he will be selling out every night. I also saw something that said he will doing this for six months of the year. So let's assume he will still be touring.

Thank You. Shut up! Matthew 2311! You probably couldn't sellout for free!

Yeah, who knows, this could be a creative labratory of great new music. It will give him a comfortable live venue to experiment. And the Vegas stereotype of old does not exist anymore.

Prince playing Vegas? yawn

The Stones are still playing a world tour, and Prince, who is younger at 48 than Jagger was at 28 or Richards I suspect ever was, is relegating himself to old fart territory?

If he continues doing proper tours and playing for the fans that, ya know, gave a shit about him when everybody else was laughing at his skinny ass, then I guess it's cool. But if he doesn't? Meh.

Vegas'll be a money-maker, no question. But speaking as a fan the whole idea of our Brat playing in a lounge is so terribly depressing. Maybe I'm just bitter because I still haven't gotten a chance to see Prince live, I dunno. shrug

Dang, you are being so negative about this when we don't even know the facts yet. The club in the Rio is hardly a 'lounge', have you ever been there?

Prince booking acts and playing sometimes doesn't mean he's not going to tour. So why shouldn't we be able to go see him somewhere until the reported tour starts? Hell, I'm all for it! It'll be cool to see him in a more intimate venue rather than a big arena. Unless you're underage, you'll now have a chance to see him, instead of waiting to see if he tours somewhere near you.

Why don't you wait and see what happens before you start popping the Prozac for the terribly depressing ideas you have...

Prince is already in vegas according to MusicTrendSetters.com.
I saw it this morning there. Every time they post a scoop, they update it as it gets more precise.
The article was there: http://www.musictrendsett...l_per.html

I believe this site is blog that belongs to KingOfNYC /jer55cbs (@ hq.com). He takes the latest rumors from the various Prince fan website and Yahoo groups then blogs it. What's soooo annoying then he goes back HQ/Org/yahoo site and pimps this site like he found a new official source information.

Yeah, it's oh so tricky how he says 'THEY post a scoop...'. lol

Hey. Nothing wrong with The Vegas Elvis. He only played Vegas two months out of every year.

Am I the only one here who has seen both Elvis and Prince in concert?

Nope, I saw Elvis a few months before he died.

I don't really care where he's playing. I'm going to see him! I'll find a way. If he's at the Empire Ballroom, where he played in May, I'd go back in a heartbeat. Seeing him in a small venue is awesome!

This is a great idea! He will make $100's of millions a year doing this!! Plus shit, I'd go see him weekly! damn just imagine the shows. cool

hmm You really think he'll literally make that much?

I'm not getting worked up about this, we'll see if it happens at all.

Prince can sell-out urban areas once every two or three years... Cant see him selling out a show nightly, weekly, or even monthly to Middle America crowds that flock to Vegas... Middle America lost interest in Prince as soon as he dropped Around The World In A Day... I think thats why we are hearing talks of other artists being the main draw... This wont (and shouldnt) be in the same vein as Elton and Celine shows.

Gee how do you think P sold 100 million dollars worth of concert tix in 2004.

Certainly not in just urban areas. Some of you have not been to Vegas ever or recently. It is doing a lot to cather to a different crowd then the grandma and grand pa slot players.
