Saturday night in DETROIT, that's what THE TIME is...

Another night, Another GREAT show...

But this time, the word was that this show was being taped for SHOWTIME..

Morris & the band joined in on the fun Saturday night in Motown...shocked
Did all the hits too...including FISHNET & OAKTREE...this band is TITE! headbang

Prince did a little extended acoustic set tonight too...woot!

Oh, and the opening suit was eek eek eek

Oh, and Rhonda looked especially HOT tonight...drool

Best show I've seen in a LONG time...woot!

If you were there, help me fill 'em in on the details...
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I was at this concert, it definitely was one of Prince's best shows. My friend and I drove 4 hours from Cleveland to attend, and we were so glad that we did. We had excellent seats, 4th row from the stage.

Right before the concert, a member of the Detroit Crawl told us that the concert would start right on time tonight (8:00) because The Time was going to be the opening act!! My friend and I could not believe it, we were like, "Are you serious?" Sure enough, right at 8:00, Morris Day and the Time opened the show, and all's I can say is "WOW!", they definitely still have it! Morris and Jerome looked just as handsome as ever (not aged much at all), and during the beginning part of the show, Jerome held up a mirror so Morris could comb his hair. lol Morris and Jerome really have a great chemistry, and really put a lot of humor into the show.

A funny thing that happened during their performance was when the ladies were all singing "777-9311", and Jerome said something like, "Morris is going to be calling ALL you ladies tonight!". lol Another cool part was when Jerome came over to the side of the stage where my friend and I were seated and did the splits! He did them very quickly then walked to another part of the stage, and I remember thinking to myself, "Damn, I didn't know Jerome knew how to do the splits!" biggrin The Time played for about an hour, they did all of their hit songs, including a few of Morris' songs, the last song they sang was "Jungle Love".

When The Time's set was over, we had a bit of a wait while Prince's instruments and soundgear was set up. Actually, I was glad to have a chance to sit down, because I was sweating like crazy, and it felt good to have a chance to cool off a little.

Then the lights went down, and of course the crowd went nuts, because we knew that Prince was coming onstage! Prince came up through the floor as he has done in previous shows, looking as great as ever, in a purple jacket with white pants. He sang many songs (can't remember them all), including an uncut version of "Shhhh". I thought for sure that he would change the words around a little, but he sang them the way they were originally written, including the line about, "Doing it in the kitchen on the tabletop". I turned to my friend and said, "I can't believe that Prince is singing this song!" With his religious beliefs, I thought that "Shhh" would be out of the question, but Prince surprised us all.

Another thing that Prince did that was kinda sexual was when he laid his guitar on the stage, then crawled on the floor up to it, and started stroking the strings with the guitar without actually picking it up, just keeping it where it was. Then he covered it with a white cloth and walked off the stage.

Of course there were funny parts of the show too, like when Prince stopped playing, then turned to the audience, put his finger on his face, and then pulled his finger down his face, simulating a teardrop falling down someone's cheek. Prince then sat down in a chair that was set up onstage, and Chance offered him water (which he refused). Chance then offered him the recent Rolling Stone magazine that had Prince on the cover, and Prince took the magazine (still sitting in the chair), and pretended to read it. By then the fans started screaming and yelling, and Prince put his finger up to his lips as if to say, "Do you mind, I'm trying to read here!" He even held the magazine up so that it covered his face at one point, then put the magazine down and went back to playing. lol Funny, funny stuff.

Yes, Prince did an extended acoustic set tonight, he played many songs, including a cool acoustic version of "17 Days" which I had never heard before. I told my friend after the concert that I would love to have an acoustic version of "17 Days", since I enjoyed it very much. He also sang, "Cream", "Alphabet Street", and a bunch of other ones (forgive me, it is 5:41 am, and I'm very tired right now). lol

That's just a brief recap of my concert experience, but it was well worth the 4 hour drive to the show. Prince once again proved that he is a true musician and entertainer, I don't think there iis anybody out there who can beat him. biggrin

Yep, it was a great show. Morris and Jerome were great. They looked great too.
Jerome kept saying surprise and to thank Prince for the suprise he gave us by bringing in the Time for the jam. This was being recorded for a proposed dvd.

Prince did some rare songs. Acoustic version of Adore, 17 days, Something in the Water, Peach. 12:01 .

A few long jamms. Controversy was like 12 min. long.....OMG eek

He sang The Ride.

He made up some stuff on the spot during the acoustic set. About the Rules of men and women. ( Fellas-what goes up must come down, like the toilet seat), ( ladies, if you got a headache for 17 months.....your better see a doctor). This was hilarious!! lol

Near the end I knew he was gonna do Purple Rain and was waiting around for it.
Then the circle of pears dropped and he came up from the floor and he sang Call My Name.
Sounded fantastic.....OMG, this was good. Then he did purple rain and it was very passionate as always.

Great time for all.

Anyway, What a show! My friend and I went to the June 21st show and last nights show completely blew that one away.

When Jarome and Morris walked out on stage we weren't sure who they were until Jarome held up the mirror. Then we freaked out. Seeing the Time was a treat.

Prince's entire set was exciting! I love the transition from acoustic Rasberry Beret to Sign O' The Times.

Controversy was the high point of the show for me. ^-^

I loved both shows. Although the setlists were the same.. P had a more casual funky vibe goin on on fridaynight with a more athletic look whereas on Saturday night was more of a Prince on Pimp juice type of funk vibe. Both shows rocked and Mr.Blackwell is the King of Drumz, all i can say is sheeeeiiit! Did any1 notice the slight glitch/mistake at the beginning of SOTT on Saturday nights show? I think it might if been Renato but P gave a wcked look but the band continued 2 tear the roof off. They more than made up 4 the mistake. AllnAll it was a great weekend 4me meeting soooo many peeps i can't name them all....U Know who u r!
I hope that every1 made it home safe!
U,ME,WE!....2FUNKY!
