The Crybaby Award

I don't care what anybody says, this kinda crap is emotional abuse for a kid to be subjected to. I hope the coaches are humiliated before they lose their jobs - and they need to lose their jobs over such rank bullshit.

Coaches Face Discipline for Giving 'Crybaby Award'
Trophy Given to 13-Year-Old Student at Basketball Team's Awards Banquet

PLEASANTVILLE, N.J. (May 4) -- The coaches of a middle school basketball team who humiliated one of their players by giving him a "crybaby award" will likely face disciplinary action from district officials.

The 13-year-old boy's coach called him just before last month's team banquet and told him to make sure he attended because he was getting a special trophy, the boy's father said.

At the event, the boy watched as all of his Pleasantville Middle School teammates received trophies or certificates.

He was then called up to receive his award, and a coach told the crowd that the boy was being honored because "he begged to get in the game, and all he did was whine."

The trophy had a silver figure of a baby atop a pedestal engraved with the boy's name, which was spelled incorrectly. Family members said the teen -- an honor roll student -- was so embarrassed that he stayed home from school on the following Monday.

Edwin Coyle, superintendent of the Atlantic County district, said he would recommend that the unidentified coaches receive some type of punishment. He planned to address the matter at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting.

"I was very upset and dismayed that our coaches would take an opportunity to belittle or lessen the self-esteem of our athletes," Coyle said.

Hmm, maybe there's a "Microscopic Penis Award" the coach can be given as a "surprise" at his retirement party...with a trophy of a fat, balding naked man covering his groin with a postage stamp as the prize he gets to take home. Perhaps one of his ex-girlfriends can give the honor, saying she can't think of anyone more deserving of this award than this man...yeah.

What a douchebag. This is the kind of thing that happened to me as a kid. Once during P.E. we were playing flag football and the whole time I'm just running around trying to blend in best I can. Well the football came right at me so I caught it and ran. I was tackled by 3 boys. I weighed a whopping 65 pounds. Every other time the boys would pull the flag but when the fag had the ball they took it upon themselves to tackle me.

One of the boys picked me up and simulated like he was fucking me and then threw me on the ground, to which the other boys simply laughed and pointed. The coach saw all of this and didn't say shit. I hope this maniac pays for this. I hope that family sues his fucking ass off.

This makes me really upset.

I mean, if it weren't for me winning the Cry-Baby Award three years in a row in grade school, I wouldn't have gotten any recognition at all!

People need to lay off that coach, he's only tryin' to recognize!

Jeez! See that's the kind of thing that can scar a kid for life. I thought about that too, if someone can sue for the "emotional distress" of having a camera stolen by bodyguards surely these so-called coaches can be sued for the emotional distress of this kid.

seriously...something like this DID happen to me in junior high...it was a real "welcome to the dollhouse" moment, hopefully i can recreate it on film one day...my gym teacher had it out for me because i *HATED* gym class and was very vocal about it, and one day at lunch he punished me for "smiling sarcastically" (who...ME? mr.green ) and as a punishment, he told me i had to sit with the special ed kids for a week...eventually, my mom got a feeling something was going weird at school and dragged out of me that i'd gotten in trouble and had to sit with the special ed kids, and SHE WAS PISSED. she called the school the next day and told the principal she was outraged that the special ed kids were being used as a form of punishment, and that she demanded the gym teacher be reprimanded ASAP.

later that day, after i was told i could sit with my buddies again, my gym teacher stopped me in the hall, and very VERY sweetly said, "hey sport - next time you have problems with me, do me a favor and let's settle it out face-to-face, deal?" imagine a grown-ass man saying that to a 12-year-old kid.

i just looked at him like he sprouted a second nose and walked away. rolleyes
