RASSLIN': who here likes professional wrestling???

Okay... I have started a topic about the fine, fine "sport" of auto racing... now I believe I will tackle the issue of professional rasslin' in America.

What is intriguing about this "sport" to you guys and girls who love it? Maybe my limited intellectual capacity is the cause of my not understanding how it can be even remotely entertaining, so I am hoping that some of you can explain it to me in words that even I can understand.

It just boils down to that old Good Vs Evil theme that we're all supposed to be "wrestling" with. It's particularly popular in peace time, a legitimate alternative to war.

It's rubbish! It may appeal to 5 yr old boys but there is no excuse for grown men watching this vaguely homosexual pastime, unless they're gay of course!

Better add a smiley edit...smile

Ahhh... so that's what it is...

Most wars aren't fought by guys in tights, but if you say so.

Actually I still remember the first time I saw WWF on UK TV about 14 years ago. It was an hour long highlight show on at about 1AM. Ricky the Dragon Steamboat had the crap kicked out of him for 11 rounds and then miraculuosly recovered in the last round to take out Ted "the million dollar man " Dibiase. Hmmm, memories.

That is some funny shit!!!

I would invent a machine to kick me in the nuts repeatedly if I knew the names of any professional wrestlers.

Yeah I watched it when I was a small kid up until about the age of 10 or 11 but it was local for me so it was more realistic but since it became the WWF and Nitro and all that commercialized bullshit It's just a waste of my time.

actually, the word you are looking for is 'homoerotic', and most gay men wouldn't be caught dead watching wrestling... well, not professional wrestling anyway.

Wrestling is bogus. A bunch of roided up actors goin through the same lame routines... one big namer and one no namer...the no namer usually surprises the crowd until the end then the big namer comes back to slam him and kick him in the face but in all actuality he is thumping the canvas with his other foot going through the motions and fooling all the fools in the crowd...One thing I'll give em is the amount of money that industry produces...

Oi Marrk didn't you ever watch Big Daddy or Giant Haystacks on TV during world of Sport. I thought wrestling was popular amongst Northern jessies.

Exactly! It's so bad, the kids are forced to make their own stories up. My perception is a bit skewed but it's a theory biggrin

i have to say , i have never understood it either ...

although i have to admit ... Chief Jay Strongbow was my fav when i was younger ... he was this somewhat overweight 265lb guy ... who was like 60 ... and he would get the shit kicked out of him ... and then ... all of a sudden ... he would go on the warpath ... dancing around in the ring ... and put the fellow rassler out (with the sleeper hold ) ... those were the days ...

but any intellectual person ... after a few minutes ... is like ... DAAA ... lol ...

I dated this gal in high school , whose dad could predict every bout ... and ... it was kinda funny ... cause it was then that i realized how much of a soap opera it was ...

my wife actually ... as she was pregnant ... started to watch it ... when the Rock was first popular ... it was funny to see ... then the lil gal was born ... and she thought it was terrible for out lil 2 month old to watch it ... lol

Why in the world would I try to justify the existence of something when the person asking has no interest in such justification?

Some people like wressling. Some people like Football. Some people like Action Movies. Some people like being kicked in the nuts with steel toed boots.

People make the world go round.
