New Star Trek Thread: PRINCE reference!! There was a Prince reference in this week's Discovery. Reno gets knocked out and when she wakes up she says "Weird dream. I was playing drums for Prince, and there were doves and a parade." [Edited 2/8/19 18:30pm] Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'...

That´s stupid and does not really fit into Star Trek at all. Does it even make sense timeline wise? I mean, aren´t they so far in the future that a pop culture reference like that would be very unusual and unrealistic? By the way, I can´t stand The Orville. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

On second thought....though I still dislike the idea of a Prince reference in Star Trek, I think the thought of him still being known in the future is nice. But TV shows like Star Trek should, in my opinion, avoid pop culture references and make sure that they don´t overuse humor. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I don't like the references either. Yes it's cool to think that 300 years from now people would know Prince & Bowie, but it just seems out of place and forced. Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'...

Finished Star Trek Discovery. Liked it, though have issues with it besides the ones I mentioned. Didn't like limited characters a such as Lorca and Landry. I liked Lorca, maybe he still is alive in the regular universe.

Here's a video that breaks down the facts and the rumors about the history, the current status and future of the rights for the Star Trek franchise. The implications of the CBS/Viacom split, Bad Robot's involvement, the 25% differences, everything is explained.

What are you talking about?? The Klingons have basically looked the same since the motion picture. They looked the same in TNG,DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise. Hell Enterprise explained why the Klingons looked different in the original series then Discovery and the JJ let's blow up Vulcan Abrams movies got to screw it up. The Klingons in Discovery look more Star gate than Star Trek [Edited 2/11/19 16:22pm]

Exactly. Plus these "Klingons" acted differently as well. The way they acted reminded me of the Taelons from Earth Final Conflict. The Klingons we know and love are true harden warriors. The Klingons would kick the asses in a battle with the fake Klingons of Discovery.
