Skip everything but Kramer vs Kramer and possibly the lobster. Don't know if u feel like absurdist dry humor.the rest is mostly crap.... (*with a few titles i simply don't know)

So you don't know most of them and call them crap? Some are classic old movies, like Cabin In The Sky, and Claudine (with Diahann Carroll).

And there's no way I'm skipping the Bowie documentary. In fact, I'm watching it as I type.

Ehh. Fair enough response. Haven't seen about 6 of those. The rest ain't sheeit to write home about. Some are damn near horrible.

Bowie docs are good.. wasn't certain if that was the 5 years doc avail on HBO streaming or a new one. Fair criticism. Will respond pedantically and fully and individual next time. It was just a truly weak list.

Of course these things are all relative: upbringing, socio-economic background, culture, religion, sexuality etc.

In reality, I wasn't asking for recommendations on things to watch. I have a list I'm going through right now, obviously. I did ask for those who have actually seen any of the movies to let me know their thoughts. Some have proved more informative than others.

Still Alice was a beautiful film. I just finished it (after the Bowie one). I'm not looking for endless superhero movies, or some avant-garde arthouse film where a woman sits at a wooden table, emoting for 90 minutes then runs into the ocean, all to the sounds of one note being plucked inside a piano while a pot of rock soup boils over on the stove. Oh, and she's barefoot the whole time, and it's winter.

I need the silly, as well as the drama, the horror, the thrills and chills, a great story, or just to laugh my butt off. I'm most looking forward to Citizenfour about U.S. hero and patriot Edward Snowden. I love old movies, so the aforementioned Cabin In The Sky, Claudine, plus a much-needed rewatching of Kramer vs. Kramer is certainly up next.

Regarding the Bowie doc, it is the BBC/HBO The Last Five Years. Covered more than five years. But one will never hear the words "David Bowie doesn't fart" the same again.

It is the Bush movie. Sometimes I'm not always a fan of Oliver Stone's revisionist history, but I might give it a go. Regarding that, and the latter two movies you mentioned, I'm never afraid to cut a movie off and ditch it if it's not holding me by 15-minutes in.

Unfortunately for me, I always finish a movie if I start it. It must be some kind of OCD thing or something. I've sat through that awful Ghostbusters remake just because I spent money on the ticket. If you do remove anything from your list, I'd recommend a few Irish movies to you to take their place. These are legendary in Ireland, especially in Dublin. I've never met anyone here who didn't like them. The Commitments The Snapper The Van I showed them to my ex, who's from the States, and he loved them, even though he wasn't entirely sure of what the characters were saying half the time. They are movies made and set in Dublin so all the characters have heavy Dublin accents. My ex was also taken aback by some of the language used because there's "fucks", "cunts", "pricks" and "bollockses" thrown around with reckless abandon. Which is a very accurate portrayal of Dublin, in fairness. But they're all very very funny movies and even though you'd probably have to have spent some time here to get every joke, you'll still really enjoy them.

This is a great recommendation; love it. You won't be disappointed.

The Snapper is my favourite of the three. I think it was originally supposed to be a direct sequel to The Commitments but another company owned the rights to that movie so they changed the characters names for the Snapper to avoid legal trouble. A lot of the same cast though. Colm Meaney steals the show.

Must be an Irish thing. I mean, what else do you have to do on that little island? LOL

I liked the Ghostbusters remake. It was a bit of a slow start, but overall it was good. Somehow I have it in my purchased digital movies on Ultraviolet, etc. I've never purchased or rented it. I have a few in there like that. I guess I got some free stuff over time. I got freebies when I was on Vudu. Thankfully, Disney, Vudu, etc etc are all in one spot now.

And as I've approached fifty (the event is next March), I realized I don't have time for OCD anymore. HAHAHA

I'm not sure if it's an Irish thing so much as it's an "Emma thing". Besides, there's loads of stuff to do here. And when I can think of one example, I'll let you know razz

Such lurid visual poetry, do you have a copy of this rock soup movie?
