This is a win-win for both teams. The Cavs add depth, and can contend beyond 2018 with LBJ and the top pick, OR they can rebuild around their top pick after 2018 when LBJ.

The C's now have a young core and retain some picks. They now have a legit shot of taking the Cavs to 6.

It's all academic though. Neither team can handle the Dubs.

Seems to me that the Cavaliers won big-time in this deal.

I never saw anyone get tired of winning with Michael Jordan and say, "Get me out of here! I'm sick and tired of playing on the best team in the conference!" But that's what Kyrie Irving did. Not sure that speaks well for him as a member of a winning team.

That's not what Kyrie was saying. He's saying that he's tired of playing second fiddle to the best player in the league and wants a legitmate shot at leading a team to the Finals and ultimately to a championship. Clearly, this isn't going to happen while LBJ is still in Cleveland and Kyrie wasn't willing to wait another season for LBJ to leave. Also, rumors have been swirling around for the past two offseasons that the Cavs were trying to trade Kyrie.....even with his winning shot in the 2016 Finals. I believe Kyrie can definitely lead a team, but it's not going to come as quick as one may think. I don't see the Celtics in the Finals next year, but I don't see LBJ having another cakewalk through the Eastern conference this coming season either. As far as the trade, I agree with Namepeace.

Yep, everybody's motivation is different. You're right, time will definitely tell. What looks good on paper doesn't always play out the same in reality. We shall see what happens...

Despite all these moves, neither team will defeat Golden State in the Finals.

Still, it's going to be an interesting season with so many players changing teams. I want to see how Minnesota, Houston, Philly, OKC, LA(Lakers) & Sacramento do.

Not so fast on this deal. ESPN is reporting that Isaiah Thomas had his physical and is still recovering from his hip injury, which may sideline him for a significant part of the start of the next season. The Cavs may be looking for the Celtics to sweeten the deal with more draft picks.

In the NBA, when a star in his second copntract wants out, or wants someone else out, the star usually gets his way, for a variety of reasons.
