there's already been plenty of proof....some of it hidden in plain sight... but people have been systematically brainwashed to believe in fairy-tales and fiction ("science", "religion" and "fairy-tales"), to explain extraterrestrial phenomeon, instead...

Then go ahead and tell us about it.

We live in this gigantic universe. There's no special ingredient on Earth that can't be found elsewhere. I think it would be kind of lonely to be the only living planet in such a big place, seems like such a waste.

Oh, well, I know you've nose for cosmology so I thought maybe you had something more evidential
than this. I don't think the size of the universe necessarily leads to easily inferring other anthropic
and/or intelligent life forms similar to ours existing throughout. It is possible and conceivable that
we are unique or alone.

What's your take on Hugh Everett's work (many worlds)?

As of yet there is not substantial proof there is intelligent life anywhere. Heck there's no evidence there's any life anywhere but here. So I can't say with any authority beyond I believe it to be true. It would boggle the mind to think we are it, though. Like why would that be? Like are we supposed to fill up this space? I used to think that was impossible but I saw something that made it sound plausible. I might post it.

Not familiar with the name but I'm familiar with the concept. It shows up in many popular scifi shows or some similar idea. I'm thinking StarGate right now.

It is mathematically impossible for Earth to be the only living planet in the universe (not to mention the multiverse).

Have other sentient beings visited our planet before? I see it as a possibility.

If we've been visited before and not enslaved then obviously they have been benevolent beings.

In my opinion there could be advanced beings out there that are smart enough to NOT want to be found, and open themselves up to the dangers of contact with other beings (disease, invasion, etc.).

Its stuff like this that make me not believe our government is covering up alien visitation. Why would it take 30 years for us to figure out how to grow lettuce in space if we weren't trying to figure out the basic stuff on our own?

For those who believe there is God above us, think about this; if there is certainly a God out there, to think about the possibility that we are the only ones in the vast Universe it's not that irrational. God created the whole Universe for us to see how much He loves his creation, perhaps that was His original plan, for us to enjoy an everlasting life discovering the ever expanding universe.

Who knows, I don't believe he's ever revealed his entire plan to any person, so why not?

You know that opens up a whole big ole can of worms?

Why? Source, explanation for this? I think I remember reading and article some time ago (I think it's this one, don't have time to check now: http://www.bbc.com/earth/...arth-began) that argues that we don't know all the factors that led to living organisms. So, I think unless we don't know that, we don't know how much of an coincidence (unless you believe in creation) it was, so you wouldn't really be able to say that it is mathematically impossible. Right?

when we consider the definition of "life" and "intelligent" life it's important imo to remember that, aside from our knowledge of this particular planet Earth, we have only a narrow basis for understanding the scope of possible forms life could take.

this recent article, for example, highlights the discovery of life in a pool of hot acid. this discovery has come as a surprise to modern-day scientists. perhaps the implications are that if life can survive in harsh conditions (no need for the so-called "Goldilocks Planet"), it may only be a matter of time and a wider search until we find highly developed intelligent life forms in the universe:

http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20170803-in-earths-hottest-place-life-has-been-found-in-pure-acid

For the first time, scientists have found living microbes in the blistering hot springs of Ethiopia’s Danakil Depression.

In a surreal landscape of colours, dominated by luminescent ponds of yellows and greens, boiling hot water bubbles up like a cauldron, whilst poisonous chlorine and sulphur gases choke the air.

Known as the “gateway to hell”, the Danakil Depression in Ethiopia is scorchingly hot and one of the most alien places on Earth. Yet a recent expedition to the region has found it is teeming with life.

In the heart of the Horn of Africa, the Danakil Depression is one of the most remote, inhospitable and least-studied locations in the world. It lies over 330ft (100m) below sea level in a volcanic area in north-west Ethiopia, close to the border with Eritrea, aptly named “Afar”. It is part of the East African Rift System, a place where the Earth’s internal forces are currently tearing apart three continental plates, creating new land.

The violent landscape is arguably the hottest plac...the planet, and one of the driest. The temperature regularly reaches 45C (113F). It rarely rains, but seas of molten magma ooze just beneath the crust’s surface. There are two highly active volcanoes: one of them, Erta Ale, is one of only a handful of volcanoes to have an active, bubbling lava lake at its summit. The area is also littered with acid ponds and geysers, and features a deep crater called Dallol.

has anyone here ever had an experience they thought might have been an encounter with an alien? like, that job interview with the beehive-hairdo lady where you could have sworn her hair was moving by itself and maybe hiding something living?

1. There are plans, and they are not secret.

2. Statistically, it seems highly likely that there must be alien life elsewhere in the universe.

3. No evidence of extraterrestrial life has yet been found.

4. There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that extraterrestrial life forms have ever visited the Earth.

If it knows how to survive on our planet, then it knows a mega-lot and it sure the heck ain't sharing the knowledge so it can kick rocks and carry it's butt home as far as I'm concerned. Don't be standing around observing me struggle and expect me to be impressed.
