Sense8 Was Canceled After 2 Years, BUT...

source

It looks like Netflix listened to the fans.

On Thursday, the streaming giant posted a video on social media of the actors from the cult series Sense8 singing along to “What’s Up” by 4 Non Blondes. Halfway through the video a message appears on the screen:

“It’s happening. Two-hour finale episode. Tell your cluster.”

In addition to the video, series co-creator Lana Wachowski posted a letter online thanking the fans for being the reason the show is coming back.

“The passionate letters, the petitions, the collective voice that rose up like the fist of Sun to fight for this show was beyond what anyone was expecting,” Wachowski said in the statement.

“It is my great pleasure as well as Netflix’s (believe me, they love the show as much as we do but the numbers have always been challenging) to announce that there will be another two-hour special released next year. After that…if this experience has taught me anything, you NEVER know.”

When news broke that Netflix would not be renewing Sense8 for a third season—in part due to each episode costing $9 million—fans reacted with an uproar. They created a Change.org petition that garnered more than 500,000 signatures and began mailing single flip-flops to Netflix CEO and founder Reed Hastings in a movement called “Operation Flip-Flop.”

I've never seen Sense8 but I've only heard bad things. I've been meaning to watch it so I can judge for myself but after hearing it got cancelled it just fell to the bottom of my list. To be honest, I just wish that the Wackowskis would do another Matrix movie to try right the wrongs of part 2 and 3. Or maybe even a TV series.

Netflix has been brutal with the cancellations this year. You have to worry about everything not named House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, and Stranger Things that they premiere and theres no ratings to give you a clue if your show is safe.

Then you're talking to the wrong folks. It's a wonderful, intense, and beautifully shot & written show. It was canceled because it cost about $9M per episode to produce. I personally think they could have found other filming options. But it is what it is. I look forward to the finale.

I do think Reloaded & Revolutions could/should have been one longer film (like 2.5 hours). I wonder if a fan somewhere has edited those two into one more cohesive film.

Well that's the thing. The only opinion I trust is my own so I do intend to watch it at some stage but with the show being cancelled, it's made me less enthused about it. I like the general concept though.

I'll admit it took a while for the show to make sense to me, youre not sure whats going on within the first couple of episodes and the orgy scene was quite uncomfortable for me to watch, I giggled through the whole scene. They pushed the envelope on that one, i still giggle when they do it but not uncomfortable about it as much. But once I got to understand the premise of the show I fell head over heels for it. It was different, even though it it has a superhero feel, no one is a superhero, no special powers just skill sets. I like the bonding aspect of it, I think that's what attracts the fans it has.

I'm glad they respect it enough to give it closure. I'll be front and center.

The orgy scene is fucking amazing. There is some humor after it to give it relief.

And yeah, you have to sort of struggle through the first 2 or 3 episodes. It's all set up and 411 on what is going on.

For me, one of the coolest things is that when an actor swaps out in a scene, it's not an edit. Both actors are there, and when the camera pans one way or the other, the actors quickly swap places. It's a very cool thing. Even that last scene of the last episode of season one has that happen on the overhead boat shot.
