Why Do TV People Go Ethnic On Certain Words? For years, it's irritated the fuck out of me when a reporter, or TV presenter, pronounces certain words differently. In upstate New York, there's a gal named Yolanda Vega. She announces the lottery numbers every week. "I'm YoooooLANDA Vegaaaa!" Love it. But when I've heard her speak otherwise, if she says something like "enchilada" or "taquito", she gets all ethnic on it.
WHAT?! That heifer Giada on Food Network does the same thing. Her tongue does jumping jacks when she says "bruschetta" or "ricotta", but she's Suzy homemaker otherwise. " don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r."

i use to kick it with a woman who's parents named her Epiphany Not out of knowledge of the word but because they liked the way it sounded an AND they were shocked that the word had a meanin because they thought it was a name... her mother and aunts had names like mercy, daisy, patience, prudence, chesty (real story)...

They do this to show off. I know, it is annoying. But what really pisses me off and grates on my nerves if the way people have affected this assinine way of adding an exta syllable to one syllable words, i.e., "NOAHH!" "OH MY GODAHH!" "STOPAHH!" "YESSAH!" WHAT THE FUCK!!! I hate that shit! Why do people feel the need to speak this way? It especially annoys me when I hear adults do it. And that tranny Wendy Williams is a prine offender.

Oh look! You've even made a thread about how some people "going ethnic" has "irritated the fuck out of" you!

Ernie, I'm disappointed. It took you almost two hours to respond with that tired gif you cannot seem to let go. Do better.

I'm just responding in kind. These are reactions to your overbearing presence on this board. And since you brought that bullshit to one my threads, I just thought I'd remind you that anyone could get it. And I posted on this thread to highlight your hypocrisy.
You need this board. I don't.

I stand corrected, and you are right. I didn't mean any harm, and if my attempt at humor offended anyone, I am truely sorry. Stressing my objection to behavior doesn't give me the right to be offensive or boorish. I apologize.

[Edited 3/18/17 9:57am] Chesty? Not Chastity? I once (sort of) knew a girl named Chastity. Met her in a bar in Nairobi where lots of single men and young girls met... Also a real story...

The pioneer in that here in Houston was a TV reporter named Elma Barrerra. She was the first to pronounce her name with a Hispanic accent. And she really layed it on! It sounded like she was saying, This is Elmabalala, Eyewitness News".

Why would I take this point to another thread? It's in this thread that the OP clearly states "But I am trying to change the way people use words, or what words they use."
Just not the words he uses, despite protestations of life being a constant lesson, and learning stuff every day.
Besides, you don't want me on that thread. I'm a purveyor of unpopular opinions that tend to get ignored, dismissed or otherwise misunderstood, despite their hurtful truths. And I'm okay with that.
