Was Captain Hook French? 
A silly question I know. But I was watching this show over the holidays about a French court in the 1700s, and how the men dressed really struck me. It seems the English though similar in some ways dressed quite differently or rather carried themselves differently, and most definitely the colonies style was different still. Hook's style strikes me as French in origin, which must mean I missed a whole other side to this story. Seems the French really went for it.

okay he's modern so he doesn't count but gets an honorable mention.
I'd say for a pirate Hook was dressed with his feather.

I just was wondering. The french in that time period seem to be extra lavish, 'tis all I'm wondering for the moment.

It's not a very practical costume to wear at sea anyway. Real pirates would've gone  at this dude. |

well yes, but they were not quite so flamboyant in style, which led me to think Captain Hook resembles/was a franch pirate |
