The Simpsons has been making television history since the initial premiere in 1989, and now the iconic animated show has received yet another honor under its hefty belt. According to Variety, Fox renewed the series for a 29th and 30th season, officially making it the longest-running scripted TV show of all time.

This double renewal brings The Simpsons' episode count up to 669 for its 30th season. The record-breaking feat beats out previous title-holder Gunsmoke, the Western drama that ran 635 episodes during its run from 1955 to 1975.
