First of all - see if you can find the breaker that controls that outlet and switch that breaker off. That will stop electricity to it, and end the threat of fire.

Then, call an electrician. The problem might be more than just the outlet, and you really need a professional to see. The risks and consequences otherwise are too much to bear and could be deadly.

if you're a renter you should call your landlord. if you're a homeowner you need to have the wiring inspected by an electrician today. good luck. be safe!

Electrician came by today and fixed it.he had to install a new outlet and rewired a little bit .took him about 45 minutes to do it .im so glad its fixed

They didn't child proof that shit back in the old days. I'm suprised my siblings and I made it to puberty. Not to mention my cousin who liked to set things on fire...
