ITunes Question for Music Technophiles

I love my old Ipods. I have one that has been working for over 15 years. When I heard that they weren't going to be made or sold anymore, I bought three more on Ebay. They work beautifully. My question for the audio technophiles on this site is, since ITunes will eventually no long have support, should I burn the current program I have now on DVD so I can install it on a future computer to use with my Ipods? I haven't updated my ITunes program in years and it works great now; will it still work great (with the old Ipods) if I burn the program to DVD and install it on a future computer? Excuse my ignorance...and thank you for any info regarding this. My music is very important to me. Ipods will still be around, but what about Itunes?

What models of iPod do you own... more info helps to answer your question. Are you an Apple or PC owner?

FileHippo Link: http://filehippo.com/down...s/history/

FileHippo has a list of the older versions of Apple iTunes. I'd advise you to download the file and keep it backed up on a HDD / SSD. Yeah, you could burn iTunes to a DVD but its not guarantee it will work years later. Even so, I don't think the different version of Apple iTunes on FileHippo aren't going anywhere.

An issue.. newer computer hardware and/or software may not allow to use older version of Apple iTunes software or it may not work properly. Good question, I know someone who repairs older iPods as a hobbie, I'll ask him.

He said, 1st-generation iPod works with the current iTunes version. Well wait, you'd have to be a Mac user.

So you'd need these two items: elago FireWore 400 to 800 Adapter & for newer Mac's you'd need Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt adapter.

I think I have 3rd and 4th Gen Ipods. The sound is better and they last a long time. There's no point in buying a new one... Apple doesn't make them any more and Itunes will stop updating eventually. I'd like to be able to continue loading music on the ones I have. My concern is about being able to install and use the old Itunes on a new PC in the future. Either that or I'll have to buy an audio player that doesn't need Itunes.

Those older iPod's can be refurbished and updated to carry more memory and bigger batteries. As much as I like gadgets and tech, I've never been down the design obsolescence.

That's what I did with my oldest one. The battery lasted over 10 years and I had it replaced by a guy in Washington who repairs Ipods for a reasonable price. I don't believe in obsolescence either. I still use a reconditioned ancient Hoover vacuum cleaner I bought 25 years ago and I've never had a problem with it. All metal parts. lol

Yeah 3rd and 4th Gen iPods are still supported and we be for sometime. Whatever iTunes version you are using know I'd download it and back it up. I'd also download the current iTunes software and do the same. If you move to a new computer, you'll also have the latest iTunes that also supports your iPod devices.
