Thank the pharma industry once again

Why is there a need for Fentanyl at all?

MONEY.

the stuff is so potent NO ONE is safe using it even as prescribed.

now it has stolen the light right out of our musical lives.

i find myself dating things around his passing--saying things like "I haven't done that or been to that place since P died,"

anyway, I hope there is circle of hell for the people who run these Big Pharma scams.

at least Pablo and El Chapo were being honest about selling poison and not wrapping it in a red cross.

I hope that every article about Fentanyl is posted in the Prince Music & More forum. Especially when there are stickies for this, or when it could be posted in the General forum. Someone needs to get cracking on this, because according to Google, there are currently 583,000 news articles that mention both Prince & Fentanyl in the article.

Let's do this, everyone!

genesia.

you dont understand opiate chemistry.

all opiates are the same, they all work the same way.

the ONLY difference is how fast they cross the blood brain barrier.

cancer patients can (and do) find just as much relief from slower acting less potent compounds that are injected if necessary to work fast.

Fentanyl is SO POTENT because it crossed the BBB so fast (fat proteins on the outer coat allow it to slip through) and that results in a substance that is 50X MORE DANGEROUS TO USE than heroin as well as 50X more powerful.

it is MUCH TOO EASY TO OVERDOSE.

it is like saying that I need a machine gun to hunt deer because they will suffer if use a rifle.

stupid.

THANK YOU! I'm the biggest enemy of big pharma - but I also hate to see people suffer with such debilitating conditions, whether it's cancer or otherwise.

And for the record, I've never had a prescription for anything in my 48 years, and I'm grateful I've not had to use any sort of drugs. I barely take an Advil or Aleve. I'll sometimes tough out a headache, in lieu of taking pills. I have a lot of pain my legs quite often, but avoid drugs if at all possible. I know Aleve and Advil are Tic Tacs in comparison. But I get how cancer patients, etc., need help to retain their dignity, and any quality of life.

You are so right with this!
Having several family members pass away from the chemo and pain meds when big pharma and the Drs. only say they died of cancer... The truth needs to be told!

ignorance is not compassion

Insys (the company that invented it) was sued for prescribing it in several states for bribing doctors to write for lesser pain conditions

Cancer patients also die from cancer. And at that point, not even fentanyl could make a scratch in their pain.

Ignorance.

Most cancer patients actually die from chemo. People can have cancer for years, get diagnosed, start chemo and they are dead within weeks. This happened to Dio. 'Short battle with cancer', means chemo killed them quick. That is the reality. Some make it, a lot are killed.
