The movie "Joy"

...just saw it last night - and I LOVED IT!!! smile That's half my life story over there (excepting the end - *so* far! smile ).... and she gives the acting performance worthy of a true artist... AFAIR, she got an Oscar, right? She deserves every INCH of it.....

Any fans of this movie here? smile

It's a good, pleasant film, but I wouldn't consider it amazing. David O. Russell has directed better movies with and without Jennifer Lawrence. I think I rated it 3/5 in the movie thread.

I also have to reflect on the fact that - were I to meet a girl like that one day, I would, I donno.....not saying I'd get married or anything, but I'd come close.... smile Like, dating or something.....

She's SMOKING hot, a nice person, and doesn't expect to have a guy provide for her while she simply uses him and mooches off of him - exactly the opposite in fact!..... all extremely desirable qualities in any prospective mate of mine..........

And talking of hot, I saw a pic of Jennifer Lawrence AT I think, the Oscars where she won her award for this very movie, in a paper over here, and she had on this slinky little black thing, I swear I almost came in my pants!!..... smile

Jennifer Lawrence was nominated for an Oscar for Joy, but she didn't win. (Brie Larson won the best actress award instead for Room.) Jennifer did win a Golden Globe award this year so maybe that is the ceremony to which you're referring. Or when she won an Independent Spirit Award for Silver Linings Playbook a few years ago.

Brie was excellent in Room. She deserved the Oscar!

Yes, I saw Joy. It was very good and I love JL, but Brie was mesmerizing IMO.
