Carolina QB Cam Newton Unknowingly Changed This Little Boy’s Life Forever

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton hands every football he throws or rushes in for a touchdown to a fan. Sometimes, the former Auburn Tiger singles out a kid wearing his Alma mater’s colors and other times it is just a fan who catches his attention. In most cases, Newton doesn’t know who he is giving the ball to or their story.

Sunday, Newton changed a young boy’s life forever and he had no idea.

Six-year-old Colin Toler’s father had promised to take him to see his favorite team, the Panthers, and his favorite player, Newton, play. It was going to be a father-son moment that both would share for the rest of their lives.Unfortunately, that moment would never come.

At the end of September, Colin lost his father when he passed away due to a medical condition.

Pro athletes get a bad reputation these days, but in many cases, players are involved with many charities and often sign autographs and give away memorabilia to kids.

Understanding that Colin was devastated, friends of the family donated tickets for Colin, who lives in Danville, Virginia, and his two grandfathers to the Week 9 matchup between Carolina and the Green Bay Packers at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Colin’s family hoped the game would lift Colin’s spirits; because of Cam Newton, it turned into the greatest day of Colin’s short life.

In the second quarter, Newton leaped from the 1-yard-line into the end zone to put the Panthers up 9-3 (before the ensuing PAT). After the touchdown, Newton retrieved the ball from the ball boy and headed toward Colin.

As he watched his favorite player coming toward him, Colin admitted to his local news WSET 13 he didn’t know what to think.

"I was like oh gosh, oh gosh," Toler said. "Am I going to be on the big screen or am I going to be on TV? I was jumping up and down like yeah!"

Colin didn’t just get to be on the jumbotron and TV, he got a memory that will live with him forever.

I think it's great that he gives the balls away every time he scores, usually to kids. Just a nice thing to do. And you can't beat Cam's huge smile when he scores.
