Ouch, I'm sure that hurts. Hope it gets better. How'd you get tendinitis? Any specific thing?

Which tendon? Do you have tennis elbow or golfer's elbow? (I've had both.)

Cortisone shots are a quick fix. Are you doing PT, as well? Tendonitis is often the result of a strength imbalance, which PT will correct.

Surgery for tendonitis is pretty drastic. I'd exhaust every option before I let anyone cut me.

Pt helps cool I'll ask for it thanks.. it's in the crease part of the elbow, it's a serious stabbing pain n swelling. Can't pick up stuff or open a car door. Pain in the ass this stuff.

Oh, yeah - been there. A couple years ago, I couldn't so much as pick up a pan when I was cooking. It's a real pain in the ass.

A physical therapist will give you exercises that will help correct the imbalance - and tell you what stuff to avoid. Years ago, when I had impingement tendonitis in my shoulder, the therapist told me I had to stop doing bench presses, and do only back and rear deltoid work until he said he told me different. I had been doing a lot of weight training and had created the situation that caused the tendonitis, myself. I was better in a couple of months.

It's definitely worth it to try the PT. My mom had surgery on both of her shoulders for tendonitis and let me tell you, it was no picnic. You'll have to do PT anyway (it's part of the rehab from surgery), so you might as well try it first and see if it helps.

I have had it for years but it's been better for a year now!!!

I went from using 25 lb dumbbells for biceps curls (I'm female) to not being able to lift a 3 lb dumbbell because the pain was too much. In fact, I couldn't lift any weights at all for three years. Even holding on to dumbbells to work legs killed my forearms/elbow too much to continue. I saw 11 different doctors. Cut out sugar. Cut out soy. NOTHING helped! Then I saw a physical therapist and she changed my life. She had me do eccentric elbow exercises and I can actually lift weights again!!! I really, really feel for you and hope you find someone who can truly help!!!

Also, my PT cited a study where participants had chronic achilles tendonitis. Half of the participants had surgery and half did eccentric calf exercises. The majority of the half who had surgery actually had their tendonitis come back, whereas the half who did the eccentric exercises ALL saw significant decreases in pain!! I was really considering surgery, too, but am glad I didn't do it. If that is what's right for you, I wish you nothing but success and health!!

Did you try PT? Guessing not - sounds like you're just taking the most drastic route. Y'know, you could always just cut off your arm and solve the problem completely. shrug

Seriously, dude? I gave you two very constructive replies earlier - both of which (apparently) fell on deaf ears. Whatevs. Let 'em cut you. It'll be more expensive and there's no guarantee the problem won't come back. But if that's what you want. shrug

BTW,
the fact you're deaf and yet your onscreen name is "hifidelity67",
and that I'm blind and yet my name is "Visionnaire",
I haven't lost sight on the irony that is present here.

Related image<<<<< rubber baseball.

>

not sure if this will help, but i do know it's worked for some people (me included)

1. hold the ball in the hand of the pained elbow

2. as you are holding the ball slowly squeeze the ball and hold.

3. then slowly lift your arm and squeze the ball (lift only about 7 or so inches - squeeze about 3 - 10 secs - hold)

4. continue to sqeeze and hold until the arm is lifted straight out to the side.

5. then hold in this position for around 7 seconds.

6. slowly reverse the pattern as you lower your arm continue to (SLOWLY) squeese the rubber ball

7. do this about 3 times during each day. slowly your arm will repair itself

>

below is a partial example of how to lift the arm as you squeeze the rubber ball using moderate pressure. remember to 1. slowly lift (about 10" and sqeeze 2. count to 7 - 10 3. in total there should be about 5 sqeeze -lift movements until the arm is in a 90degree angle. 4. then as the arm is lowered repeat the ball sqeeze and hold. (do this only about 3xs per day.)

Related image (many people don't know that the shoulder is the focal point for the tendons from the fingers up. if there is some kind of continual stress or some impact on the elbow or even the fingers, the damaged tendon will travel up to the shoulder.)

(sometimes i think the doctors want to keep their patients totally dependent on meds that have gross side effects)

i hope this works for you. those cortisone shots can have some treacherous side effects. hug be well!
