NFL Draft 2015 - Time to go Shopping!

The consensus is Winston and Mariotta will go one and two, respectively. IMO, neither is what I'd call a legit franchise QB like Andrew Luck.

Giants need to upgrade the pass rush, o-line and secondary.

The big question tonight is - what will Chip Kelly do?

In 1979, Joe Montana was drafted in the thrid round by the San Francisco 49ers as the

overall 82nd pick.

This lets you know right there that the draft is a crap shoot, and that the so called experts
have no fucking idea what they are talking about when selecting a player. So I never
follow the draft and could care less who's taken first overall.

Check it out (the first numeric column indicates years played while the second, Pro Bowls):

2014 Jadeveon Clowney DE South Carolina Houston Texans 0 0
2013 Eric Fisher OT Central Michigan Kansas City Chiefs 1 0
2012 Andrew Luck QB Stanford Indianapolis Colts 2 1
2011 Cam Newton QB Auburn Carolina Panthers 3 2
2010 Sam Bradford QB Oklahoma St. Louis Rams 4 0
2009 Matthew Stafford QB Georgia Detroit Lions 5 0
2008 Jake Long OT Michigan Miami Dolphins 6 4
2007 JaMarcus Russell QB LSU Oakland Raiders 3 0
2006 Mario Williams DE N. Carolina State Houston Texans 8 3
2005 Alex Smith QB Utah San Francisco 49ers 9 1
2004 Eli Manning QB Mississippi San Diego Chargers 10 3
2003 Carson Palmer QB Southern Cal. Cincinnati Bengals 11 2
2002 David Carr QB Fresno State Houston Texans 11 0
2001 Michael Vick QB Virginia Tech Atlanta Falcons 11 4
2000 Courtney Brown DE Penn State Cleveland Browns 7 0
1999 Tim Couch QB Kentucky Cleveland Browns 6 0
1998 Peyton Manning QB Tennessee Indianapolis Colts 16 11
1997 Orlando Pace OT Ohio State St. Louis Rams 12 7
1996 Keyshawn Johnson WR Southern Cal. New York Jets 11 4
1995 Ki-Jana Carter RB Penn State Cincinnati Bengals 8 0
1994 Dan Wilkinson DT Ohio State Cincinnati Bengals 13 0
1993 Drew Bledsoe QB Washington State New England Patriots 14 4
1992 Steve Emtman DT Washington Indianapolis Colts 8 0
1991 Russell Maryland DT Miami, (Fla.) Dallas Cowboys 10 1
1990 Jeff George QB Illinois Indianapolis Colts 13 0
1989 *Troy Aikman QB UCLA Dallas Cowboys 12 6
1988 Aundray Bruce LB Auburn Atlanta Falcons 11 0
1987 Vinny Testaverde QB Miami, (Fla.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21 2
1986 Bo Jackson RB Auburn Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4 1
1985 Bruce Smith DE Virginia Tech Buffalo Bills 18 11
1984 Irving Fryar WR Nebraska New England Patriots 15 5
1983 *John Elway QB Stanford Baltimore Colts 16 10
1982 Kenneth Sims DT Texas New England Patriots 8 0
1981 George Rogers RB South Carolina New Orleans Saints 7 2
1980 Bill Sims RB Oklahoma Detroit Lions 5 3

Out of 34 number one draft picks in the NFL in the past 34 years, maybe one third of them have
had stellar careers, or accurately reflected being picked first. The rest were mostly bums, got
hurt (Bo Jackson, for example), or were mediocre players (Eli Manning, Testaverde, George, etc).

Yep, their entire defense has to be rebuilt. They just selected Bud DuPree from Kentucky.

Giants drafted OL Ereck Flowers from Miami.

Eagles got their replacement for Maclin.

Bud Dupree probably was the highest player rated on their board at that point
and he definitely comes with a higher ceiling than Jarvis Jones did a couple of
seasons ago. Jarvis did not take on blockers in college and just free lanced and
run around blockers which he's had to adjust to at this level and then the wrist injury last year. CB definitely needs to be addressed next round.

Remember, the mid-to-later rounds are where you find the gems, the cats who'll form the core of your team.

How lucky were the Jets? They may have drafted one of the best players in the draft. If they keep Mo, that defense will be scary with the addition of Williams.

I don't think the Steelers should have drafted a WR. Should have gotten a Safety instead or some other Defense position

I agree but I tell you this, I sure as hell like our 3rd round pick at WR

a hell of a lot better than the half pint sized one we took last season.

Sammie Coates> Dri Archer

Also they still managed to draft Doran Grant in the 4th round and he

can play corner and safety so I'm cool with the pick.

I can never really disagree with you. I like Jesse James TE at 6'7. So who is going to be the Steelers Saftey??

Mike Mitchell at one spot and Shamarko Thomas had the first crack at the other safety spot. If Thomas can't cut it old man Will Allen has been bought back as insurance.

Bud Dupree was a great value pick and possible steal for the Steelers as he was projected to go anywhere from 8 to 15. Also remember Jason Worlids retired and you don't want a 37 year old

James Harrison playing too many snaps and James will be a great mentor. Jarvis Jones has

been working out with James Harrison this offseason. Hopefully it will pay dividends for him.

Steelers picked up safety Gerod Holliman in the 7th round. Seems like these last 2 drafts Steelers have been trying to fix the Jarvis Jones pick.

Maybe Dri Archer should stay on special teams, he is pretty fast.

Not with the Ryan Shazier pick last year. They drafted Shazier with the intention
of playing him inside instead of outside like he did in college.

But so is the rest of the guys in the NFL. He has seemed slow to adjust to the
speed of the NFL since playing against smaller competition at Kent State and not to mention he is only 5'7"
