Hunting our Precious Animals So...This picture of Rebecca Francis & the dead/dying giraffe she has just killed has been all over the UK news. It makes me feel ashamed that humans still kill our most precious beasts just for fun. How can anyone think this is okay?

Her side of the story, which is incredibly weak. What? The locals couldn't have taken down that giraffe any time they wanted to? I'm not against hunting if you eat the meat, but I don't respect trophy hunters like her.

Hunters hunt for the thrill of the kill and nothing more. It's beyond despicable.

Is this all over the news causing people shock because this is a cute girl enjoying the sport? I mean it's not like animal hunting for sport is some new thing. The way people really think is interesting sometimes.

I'm just curious as to why this particular person is so "newsworthy".

imo, hunting for food is not unethical. imo, in some ways it is far better than eating meat from a factory farm. but i despise individuals who hunt for trophies, or for skins and such. it took us minnesotans a couple of years to get wolves back on the protected list so that full on slaughter of their species cannot occur; we are still working to stop trapping and snaring of wolves. they are a much maligned species of very intelligent, lovely predators. a lot of hunters seem to believe they are doing the world a favor by killing predators, but i strongly disagree. i don't know why this woman rebecca francis would be proud to kill a cheetah, lion or other animal for non-food purposes. imo, that is quite twisted

I don't buy her whole 'humanitarian' killing who makes happy faces with dead beings no different than those ghetto funerals where people pose with the dead

I think it's no concidence that the pretty blonde is the one that makes the news. As another orger said, if Ricky Gervais had not tweeted it then nobody would know. Anyhow, these pictures made me sad. I hate to say it but the fact that it is a giraffe or lion does make a difference. I really can't get inside the head of anyone who thinks killing these sort of animals is fun. On a website that listed her other kills she said that pregnant animals and baby animals were fair game so that says a lot about her.

I have no problem with hunting for meat, and it’s something I plan to take up once I retire. I’m almost entirely vegetarian, but I do make exception for hunted meat, and once in a while one of the techs I work with will graciously give me some whenever he bags a deer. It’s a far more ethical, humane thing to do than eating a pig born from a sow that was kept immobile for 90% of its life or any of the other things that are standard practice in mass farming. I don’t know why the people I work with hunt (I can’t see into their hearts), but what really matters to me isn’t their motivation, but the end result: meat produced with as little suffering as possible.
Trophy hunting on the other hand is just a rotten & awful thing to do IMO.

Once upon a time hunting was done for survival, all humans did it. Safe for remote (usually indigenous) communities hunting is no longer required for survival. I am not against hunting to survive, I am not even against eating animals but I am against cruelty which does include factory farming and I am appalled that some humans take joy in the act of killing.

The pictures completely contradict her claims of being a "compassionate conservationist..." "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

She's a devil. Actual hunting can be defended, but that shit is illegal as fuck. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Perhaps one day she will shoot an animal that will surprise her silly ass and jump up and bite her freakin head off. I would not feel one bit sorry for her. In fact, I hope it happens.

Maybe the animal will post a selfie with the corpse? "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Huntinglife.com (in defence of Rebecca Francis) state "To a hunter every animal they take cleanly and ethically is a trophy and a memory that will last forever" - Well I guess that makes it alright then?????????????

U 2 R silly lol that made me laugh . Reminds me of the dumb woman who posed next to the Panda cage. She wasn't supposed to go there, but people think Pandas are all nice and safe and cuddly The panda looked at her and almost snatched her throught the cage lol
