This Is What Happens When A Cult Hit Becomes A Viral Sensation!

You get a whole audience that misreads the whole thing.

In this case it's the mixed to bad reviews for the latest season of "Arrested Development".

I know I'm almost 2 years behind but the DVD JUST came out and since I don't do Netflix and am unschooled on illegal watching I had to wait.

But a main criticism I came across considering the new season is that it was a failed experiment and that it didn't start to gel until about episode 6 or 7.

Now mind you I've only got to episode 3 but EVERY episode so far has had me in stitches. It's the AD I remember. I'm very pleased. So I wonder where all the criticism is coming from.

My theory is that since AD was hardly watched by anyone when it aired on FOX, only true die-hards can appreciate the new season, considering they got it from go!

When it became a DVD success it coincided with the whole binge-watching craze, the peculiar phenomenon of watching whole seasons of a program over a weekend or some such nonsense.

Then it somehow gained traction through social media word of mouth and boom, a sensation was created.

I do confess to being a dinosaur who isn't much into binge watching. I can do maybe 2 episodes, but I'm not doing it with this season and many people watched the whole thing over the Memorial Day weekend in which is was released. Bad move I say.

If you came to AD through binge-watched, social media hype I can see why you don't get it now. You probably never got it to begin with.

Long story short critics and audiences alike have misread this new season of AD. It's not a radical departure as many suggests. It's still the best sitcom out there.

I just started watching the new season on Netflix and it's just as funny as it was on Fox IMO, I hope Netflix brings back more shows that were cancelled too soon!

Netflix was insistent on releasing all the episodes at once.

Maybe they should release an episode a week.

To its credit season four of AD got no EMMY nominations. At one time it won for Outstanding Comedy Series. Just shows me how much of a fluke that was and how out of touch the committee is.

They are supposed to do one season and then a movie. That was the deal they original made.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment
