It took me a while to think about this. He wants pardon since he's a celebrity so he can join law enforcement? So how does that move the bar for ordinary people with criminal past who also want to go into law enforcement? Great! More criminals can become cops. Just what the world needs. My verdict. If them's the rules bub, then them's the rule. If you respect the law then respect the law. And if you want exceptions made just for you then that says it all and I don't want you to be a cop anyway. Find another way to help if you care.

I have kind of stated my problems with this. But here's the full issue...

Mark commited quite a few hate crimes as a kid. He didn't even serve a year in jail for blinding a man. BLIDING A FUCKING MAN! confused That is a brutal crime. And seeing as he was Vietnamese (And they were treated like shit from the late 70's to the 90's) they probably gave mark a lesser sentence. I mean lets just be real here everyone. If he was a person of color it would have been hard time. Marky mark served 45 days and that's it. For the fact he commited a hate crime against someone. That's nothing! for a person of color it would have been decades long sentence.

He has been given enough privlidge in his lifetime. That's great he has turned his life around and all. But that doesn't mean he's especially above the law.

Ew, I heard nothing about him wanting to be a cop. LOL! That has got to be the worst possible timing to ask for this too.

I guess if it was wiped from his record, it wouldn't matter if he wanted to be a cop or open more Wahlburgers, as he would be free to do either.

I am also kinda wondering how these teenage crimes are "sticking" anyway?

Johnny Trinh, the Vietnamese man assaulted by Mark Wahlberg 26 years ago, has come forward saying he forgives Wahlberg, and that until now he had no idea that’s who his attacker was. In addition, Trinh says that contrary to reports, Wahlberg did not cause him any serious harm, and that he lost his eye while battling Communists in South Vietnam. Wahlberg’s violent past during his youth recently bubbled to the surface when it came out he was seeking a pardon for the crime he committed when he was 16.

I don't believe that bullshit article for a second lol why would they say he blinded him all these years? why was it in court documents? why was it mentioned in court? the man he assaulted was in the court room that day. Why would he not tell them that then? this seems fishy as fuck.

Apology not needed indeed.

Maybe Marky Mark just paid the guy, kind of like MJ paid families of the kids he fucked. Cosby should have done the same thing with the hundreds of women he date raped.

indeed it seems fishy

the cynic in me says: wahlberg wants to expand business venture ... can't because of criminal record... tries to get pardon... tacks on wanting to be part of the police, good deeds etc... pays the dude he assaulted to say it wasn't as bad as first thought, and that he supports his application for pardon... etc etc

i don't kknow what's going on... but it's suspicious as hell

Heard about the cop thing on the radio, then read it here, but it may be just a rumor.

Sounds like he just wants to erase anything he did that was wrong as if it never happened. No history. Not an example of how someone turned their life around if there's no evidence of anything to turn ones life around from.

Still makes absolutely no sense to me why something he did as a minor would prevent him from doing anything business wise as an adult. In America? Where capitalism is king? Must be a public opinion thing. Well. Too late now. People who didn't know before, know now. I don't blame the Asian community for putting it out there.

i think he paid him off a large sum of money. The guy changes his story all these years later. And all is well in the world lol I kind of wanna be mad at the guy for aggreing. But for all we know he offered him 1 million bucks! and it's hard to pass on that...

Really, he already got pardoned. He only served 45 days? whofarted He became famous. He's made a shitload. He's already been given a pass. Now he's asked for a pardon - guess what? You managed to make a whole bunch of people focus on something you wanted them to forget that they had already pretty much forgot about! Dumb dumb move!

I can think of very few people with so little talent who've had such a blessed life as Mark.

He doesn't deserve a pardon, that racist asshole.

I 100% agree. What would getting a pardon do for him, make him feel better about himself? Get the stain off his reputation (I had never heard about this before today). Maybe he needs to carry that sting around for a while.

Not ever, Marky Mark. He's not really asking for a pardon, he's doing PR for something.

No pardon. He doesn't deserve one. That whole family really struck me as effed up. I don't know how many kids, all of em running wild in the streets. The Wahlbergs are almost as fucked up as the Debarges, only without the incest. And if you have ever seen their reality show, you can see the fucked up family dynamics all start with that mother of theirs.

Racism starts somewhere and I am betting he got it from his family, which puzzles me in a way, because I never heard a whiff of racism against Donnie. When he was in New Kids, Donnie was always sporting Public Enemy shirts and he was the one in the group with the hip hop vibe. I heard that when New Kids were on Oprah, he said he liked black girls and damn near caused a riot. He first wife was Puerto Rican-she's the mother of his two kids. Not that that means anything, but I do wonder. But Mark is a POS.
