to literary majors or Moby Dick experts

I was watching Brooklyn 99 tonight and Andre Braughers character was getting harrased by IAD and an old nemisis of his. In the middle of it all, he was moping at a bar and was approached by 2 of his detectives. They asked, 'is everything ok?" His reply? The following: “I am buffeted by the winds of my foe’s enmity, and cast about the towering waves of cruel fate. Yet I, a captain, am no longer able to command my vessel, my precinct, from my customary helm, my office. And you ask, is everything okay?”

I'm not a Moby a Dick or Melville expert but am aware of the book and its premise to a degree. This struck me as maybe being a quote from the book. Is it a quote or frefrence to M.D.(the whale), or am I just a dumbass reading WAAAAY to much into some bullshit.

I perused my answer through google but my search was inconclusive. If someone can help a brovah out...I could win 5 bux ...I'll mail u half... wink

i searched it on a quotes site, only partial matches. could it have been a conbo of other quotes, cobbled together by the writers?
