I would like to see a tape, if there is one. That TMZ seems to know everyone's business. Maybe, Nike has some kind of three strike rule. Just guessing here. I will say that women do get a better treatment than men from the media. The harshest treatment I've seen from a woman so far is Martha Stewart. She went on house arrest and almost lost her fortune.

Ray Rice was given a pass, by the Goodell, the Ravens, many in the press, and the local district attorney until, the TMZ tape. wink

Will wait, that's not entirely accurate...

Mr. Goodell and Ravens owner knew what was on the tape, but they chose to lie and cover up the facts. As long as "we" only saw a segment of the video all party's involved spinned the story, hinting that the victim was a participant in, and instigator in getting her ass knocked out.

Did any of these things happen in the Solo case, no? Rice would have been playing football after the second week if it wasn't for TMZ. Any smoking gun video in Solo's case, no? It's a customary she said, her sister said, and her nephew said. The same he said she said bullshit, for which many were willing to accept in the Rice case -"what did she do". We now know, there has been up-teem cases of NFL players beating the shit out of girlfriends and wives; they all had been given a pass, until now. So, less stop with this silliness.
If we wanna talk about the double standard of how woman and men are treated as it relates to domestic abuse fine. If you want to speak about the double standard about child abuse as it relates to how many parents are very seldom prosecuted, fine. If you wanna speak to the instances where fame and money shield some but hang others out to dry, fine. Cough cough... Floyd Mayweather... cough.

Nobody was talking about abuse of any kind, until a gossip internet company posted, "the video".

If this is all how it went down, then there's no racially motivated conspiracy here. Do you know how many black men would be banned from sports, if it were? No, I'm not saying that only black men beat up their wives and girlfriends. Steroid use is rampant in sports entertainment, which can bring on violence, but that topic is most often swept under the rug.

Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson are black men. Hope Solo (and "Big Ben") are caucasian. End of story.

So how do you explain the pass Ray Rice got? He was given a deal by the prosecutor that has been given to less than 1% of men accused of the same thing as Rice.

But yet, Hope Solo hasn't gotten any kind of deal like that. As it stands now, there's no Preventative Treatment/this goes off your record deal offered to Solo, like the one that Rice got.

I dunno...maybe Rice's situation falls under the same category of the other 1% that got the "sweet" deal. Maybe the NFL had something to do with the lack of severity in Rice's punishment, as they tried to sweep it all under the rug and made a deal with the prosecutor. Who knows? But the media loves to tear down celebrities, especially blacks. I'm still waiting for someone to give me a legitimate explanation as to why OJ Simpson's trial was on EVERY channel for eight hours EVERYDAY for a fraking year.

Are you or anyone else here REALLY comparing a judge with a pro-baller when it comes to sensalionalist media hype?

Why haven't we?

Because there's video of Ray Rice beating the shit out of his wife, but there's no video of this judge's domestic violence.

Because millions of people know who Ray Rice is, but probably 500 people have ever heard of the judge.

Because the judge got the same deal that Ray Rice did, but it's turned out so far that no one lied about anything having to do with the judge's incident like they did in the Ray Rice incident.

Because pretty much every time you've seen Ray Rice's picture after the first week the video was made public, it was for a story that tore down Roger Goodell, the Baltimore Ravens, or someone besides Ray Rice.

I'm comparing media exposure of different types, which is what the thread is about....Tony's OP isn't racial so don't panic.

FYI, I already cited and compared three pro ballers in an earlier reply, Brett Farve, Rothlisberger and Incognito, but I guess nobody liked that comparison either.

Speaking of endorsements, FYI....Hope Solo hasn't lost hers. Favre didn't lose endorsements either as far as I know.

http://www.oregonlive.com...lkeep.html

As far as judges or other elected/appointed officials are concerned, need I remind you that Anthony Weiner got waaaay more sensationalist media exposure than Favre, a pro baller, for the same conduct so we can't say that pro ballers with endorsement deals are the only ones who get that treatment, right?

It's just a discussion of who gets a pass and who doesn't....nothing to be scared of. You should know by now that I don't pull stuff out of my behind without knowing what I'm talking about.

Second of all, Hope Solo was arrested and charged for the domestic violence on her half-sister and nephew back in June 2014. But yet, no one in the corporate news media are outrage like they were during the Ray Rice & Adrian Peterson backlash? And also, Hope is still playing in women's soccer? WTF is going on with the double standards?

The widely disparate coverage and sensationalism in MSM.

Tony gave the first example...a high profile female athlete vs males charged with DV....seriously, why are y'all having kittens?

And if we want to compare pro ballers, look at the difference in the way Incognito was handled vs Favre.

Why y'all trippin? It's a discussion.

In the post of yours I replied to, you asked specifiaclly why we haven't seen the judge's picture as much as Ray Rice's picture.

Now you're taking my response to your specific example and trying to apply it to a broader issue.

I already answered Tony's original question in reply #7. If you've got a question about that reply, please let me know.

As a matter of fact I did not mention Rice in that comment but okay.

What I am doing is making comparisons of media sensationalism as a broader issue by using various examles of who gets a pass and who does not. Tony gave examples, I gave a few more....I thought that's what we were supposed to be doing.

I was under the impression that we were making observations and questioning the media's portrayal of this or that public figure. We can't question the media now?

Were you comparing the judge to someone specific that has been in the media for the past three weeks when you posted "We have NOT seen this individual's face in the MEDIA 24/7 for the past three weeks, have we?" Or is three weeks just a random unit of time that popped into your mind?

Thank you for the beer, but I am going to a wine party tonight. A vineyard owner is bringing some of his wines to a dinner and I am looking forward to tasting every one of them! So I will save the beer for tomorrow.

Have a beer and relax, it's okay...really.

I made several comparisons....why you choose to cross examine me about just one them is puzzling.

I've explained as best I can but we're not connecting here....nothing else to say other than have fun at the party. shrug

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Thanks, I will! BTW, the winery is Kamen. Very good reds, and their Writers Block red blend is the best wine I've ever had. Hard to find (not sold in stores, got to go to the right restaurant), but worth it!

the funny part is it appears that the american people want to hold athletes

(who btw are famous for playin rough contact sports)

to a higher standard of accountability than the judges, law enforcement,

and congress (law makers)

po leece beat women on the streets, then go home and beat their wives.

it sounds like a generaliation BUT...

Who the hell is hope solo??

Now THAT is a great Han Solo outfit...the vest, the shirt, the pants with the red square on it...and especially the laser gun. Very accurate, except for the light saber.

She looks cute, too. Perfect boobs. Who is she?

And don´t say "Hope Solo" lol

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
