HBO's "The Leftovers"

Has anyone been watching this show? Last week was it's premiere week and while it's surely weird, I'm not too sure how I feel about it, whether if it's good or bad. I'm sitting here watching the new episode tonight hoping that more answers will be revealed. I think I want to give it a few more weeks to see if it will hold my interest or not.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

If I had HBO I'd keep up on all this shows with you. I see how it goes for a little while.

I sw the preview last week, and thought, "Maybe."
I haven't checked it out yet.

Yeah after episode #2 last night, I'm still stuck in the same spot of not knowing what to make of it either. shrug

Well I think those are to come, going by the previews. The whole thing with the GR and how they recruit folks is creepy. I think I would be beyond ballistic if folks dressed in all white and chain smoking cigarettes would be stalking me all over the place.

I can't help but watch and think it is some analogy to 9/11 and how it seems the world changed so much after that. People became a lot more involved and vocal about religion, the youth seemed to live life more "urgently," and the world just seemed to get a bit more crazy overall. I'm watching the leftovers and can't get over the cult group, who just dress in white and smoke. I'm wondering, hmmm... maybe there is something in what they are smoking that keeps them compliant. (?) And what's with the deer????

Right! And what's with the dogs? At first I was thinking it was all in his head, that only he could see this guy and these "dogs" but when his daughter and her friend actually acknowledged the man when he was standing in the door way, I got all confused again. lol It was pretty nice seeing Scott Glenn though.

This show is not about answers. You will not get answers to why the 2% vanished (they didn't in the book or the first 4 episodes critics and bloggers were sent for review anyway). It's a drama about the aftermath.

Well I think that's already obvious. No one here is asking about what happened to the 2%...the discussion here is actually discussing the aftermath.

Fair enough, but the first post you said you were hoping more answers would be revealed. Just letting you know you most likely will never get them.

Right I said something about answers being revealed but your post is referring to answers in regards to why the people vanished when my statement never referred to that. Although it wasn't specific to what answers I was referring to, I was actually referring to their world as it now. But it's all good. We're cool. I get what you are saying. thumbs up!

I just watched the first episode earlier.
I have to admit: I'm kind of confused.

I don't understand who the different groups are, or why the ones in white chain smoke... confuse

Right that's what me and Hump were saying...but I'm finding that with each episode every week, you learn an inch more about what it's about. Hard to explain. Each episode in the beginning has me thinking "why in the hell am I watching this crazy, confusing show?". But then as the episode goes on, I realize why I keep watching. It's a weird and strange show, I think thats what keeps me drawing to it.

2nd episode was much better than the first. The toaster lost bagel plot had a very LOST vibe where a personal character trial is set up and then concluded in very cinematic emotional way.
